Random Ramblings from the rebels

Jun. 10, 2007 - Gone Fishin...

We had a wonderful afternoon today!  Yesterday, we went to target and the children bought daddy an early Father's Day present.  A new bike!  We don't generally do much for Mothers/Father's day, but this year the children really wanted to buy daddy a new bike for our family bike rides.  We had a yardsale (actually we took stuff and Nana sold it for us...THANKS Nana!) a couple of weeks ago and earned almost enough money to buy the bike.  We decided it would be best if daddy picked it out himself, so when we got to target for other things, we convinced him to try out a bike.  He found one he thought would be just right and so today we had to try it out.  We loaded all the bikes, all the children and all the fishing gear and headed a few miles away to the state park.  It is times like this that I am VERY glad we have the big "bus", although when Aaron, Mag and Parker start riding their own bikes I think we will need a bigger bus or a trailer to pull or something.  There is no more room in the inn!  We had a great time riding the bike trail, rode just over two miles I think.  Then we found a nice quiet spot near the bridge to go fishing.  Parker was in the sling on my back and had a great time pulling leaves off the nearby trees and putting them in my hair and in his mouth.  Aaron wasn't too interested in fishing, but he had fun running around and he enjoyed throwing bread in the water and saying "here fishy" hoping they would come when he called.  No one caught any fish, but we did see some and I think Jay had nibbles a few times.  We also saw some sort of turtle.  There are no pictures because we were so busy trying to help with casting the lines and making sure no one fell in the water that the camera sat on the bike trailer forgotten.  Actually, I think Kev did get one picture of Aaron, but the camera is downstairs and I don't think it was a very good picture anyways.  I think this may become a regular occurance on lazy Sunday afternoons and that's fine by me...I'm not a huge fan of fishing, but it was quite enjoyable!

We would have stayed, but it was 7:30, we hadn't had dinner yet and the Park closes at dusk which was not too far off, so we called it a day. I'm sure we will be back before the week is over though!
