A Lazy Summer Day

Today was a busy, yet wonderful day. The girls and I headed over to a friends house to swim in her pool and visit. She too has just began her adventure into homeschooling. It is nice to just be with someone else that doesn't think I am nutty for my decisions. ;)

I decided to get out of the house today because my husband needed peace and quiet to sleep. He has to work the night shift this week because his machine (he is a process engineer) is down. His machine is a paper producing machine that makes professional grade hand towels...you know the ones you use in the restrooms of your favorite stores.

So here I am on night two alone with my giggling girls. I feel a bit emotional right now. I think I am just tired from all the sun and exercising. ;) Not to mentioned I grilled out tonight and that took about 1 1/2 hours to prep and do. It was so delicious though! I am new to grilling so I was quite please with my salmon with homemade tarter sauce, shrimp and squash experiment. Speaking of food...

I have some news...I lost 3lbs. in 1 week of dieting!!! I am watching portions sizes and exercising daily. I have a long road to go down but I am pleased and proud of my first week...of torture. :) I still need to lose 65 more lbs. Yes, I am quite overweight. So much so it is embarrassing! It is hard to believe I was once a size 0!!! So cheer me on to week number 2!

Well, I should run. I need to read some Bible stories with the girls and have my 1st grader read aloud to me some. It has been awhile since I have actually proofread her reading. I must dote on my child here though...she is on a 2nd grade level in reading. Her private K5 teacher actually gave her an award at honors day because she was so impressed with her reading ability. Something interesting to note is that her teacher was, you guessed it, homeschooled! Small world, huh?

Well, that is all for tonight! I feel much better already. :)

My first post!!!

Hi there! I am new to homeschooling. I have researched this for about three years and have finally taken the plunge. Yay! When my girls were little I did read to them a lot and I think that was when my desire for homeschooling started.

My girls are now 7.5, 6 and 3 year old and are starting the 3rd and 1st grades. This summer we are just going to slowly ease into some work. We live near the beach (about 45mins) so we are just going to enjoy the beautiful area and weather most of the summer. Our county has a homeschool group that is really growing so I am hoping to meet more people with younger kids this summer too. They have park days every week and I am hoping to meet some more people that way as well. I hope the girls can find some friends. Not that they only have to have homeschooled friends or anything, I just find that homeschoolers have children with values more like ours. :) Well, I think that is all the blabbing I can think of for now. ;)
