Day Two of our mini vacation happened on Mother's Day! We stopped at a wonderful place for breakfast called The Waffle Lady. I had the most delicious Macadamia Nut Waffles with coconut syrup and freshed squeezed orange juice. If you are ever in San Clemente, you have to go here for breakfast. It was probably the best breakfast I have ever had!
After breakfast, we stopped at our first destination for the day:
I have to admit, I was a little dissapointed when we walked through the entrance. When you see pictures of Mission San Juan Capistrano, you see the white washed walls and the beautiful church building. Well, I hate to break it to you, there are no white washed walls and the church is only partially standing. However, we really enjoyed our visit here. They have a passport available for the kids to purchase. This little booklet is basically a walking tour of the grounds with questions for the kids to answer as they tour around the mission.
After lunch, we made our way here:
Since it was Mother's Day, I really wanted to spend some time on the beach. The beach is just one of those places where I can actually sit and relax and not do much of anything. I love listening to the sound of the waves, smelling the salt sea air, feeling the wind on my face and the warmth of the sun.
Here is a little of what the kids did while we spent some time at the beach:
After dinner, we went down to the San Clemente pier and walked around a little bit. Before we left, I was able to capture this picture at sunset:
As soon as I have a chance, I will blog about Day Three of our trip. It involved a place about little plastic bricks! |
