A Civil War filled day!

Posted in Daily life

Matthew has been wanting to make hard tack to take to the Civil War Reenactments and today was finally the day that I let him make it.

Hardtack is done!

Finished hardtack!!

This afternoon while I was still working on the skirt to my dress (which involves this procedure which I did incorrectly and had to re-do!), Matthew decided to watch Gods and Generals again.

Once Kev got home from work, Matthew drilled him on infantry procedures and Kelsey decided to join in:

Drilling

Tonight as I was still working on the skirt to my dress, we watched The Great Locomotive Chase.

So how did you spend your day??

You have been busy! I've been keeping up with your posts, but I haven't gotten around to much commenting. I've been enjoying your posts; I think it would be so much fun to do a reenactment!

We're getting ready to lead a team of youth on a 10-day missions trip, so we've been busy too. I should have more blogging time when we get back.

Blessings,

Andrea

So how was the hard tack? It doesn't sound very appetizing and I don't think it always was by the time they got to eat it! But they were probably so starving they didn't care half the time!

I can't wait to see the dresses and your pics from the re-enactment. If we weren't leaving on Monday for our trip, I would be there too! I'm glad it isn't supposed to be too hot for you this year.

The hard tack was deeeelicious! maybe some fruit on top would have made it better...or cheese...or ice cream...or salami...ok maybe it was kinda bland. I can't imagine eating only this for days back in the day. Good job Matthew!
