Where does the time go...

Posted in Daily life

It is hard to believe that it has now been over a month since I last posted an entry on here! Life seems to be moving a break neck speed lately with one thing after another going on.

We had a family meeting at the beginning of the month. With April, May and June calendars out, we planned out what activities we should participate in and which ones we needed to pass on. There are often times too many things to choose from, many fun activities that we have to say 'no' to.

But God encourages us to have a time of rest, just as He rested. Just because everyone else is running from here to there and everywhere, doesn't mean that our family needs to be doing the same thing.

In our fast paced society, we are trying not to conform to the norm of families not spending time together around the dinner table every evening. Kelsey learned from one of her friends today that she was making dinner this evening. So Kelsey insisted on helping out tonight. She sees the benefit of giving mom a rest. I am so blessed by her and the sweet thoughts she has.

I know how it can be to be too busy. It was great to see you at church, sorry you weren't at the bonfire. I would like to make my petition that you put next year's bonfire down on the calendar now. :)

We need at least one day together this summer.

I'm glad you are taking the extra effort of involving your kids in boundary setting at a young age. They will be the better for it. Your young lady sounds entirely gracious and helpful.

Where did I hear this recently, maybe on Tim Challies' blog? "Isn't not being busy a good reason to say no to something?'
It seems like we all feel an obligation to be too busy and choosing a less frantic lifestyle goes against the flow. Now that the kids are older we struggle with getting that dinner time together, but I'm still working on it, For many years we were consistently home for dinner together by design. Did you know that a very high percentage of American families don't even cook anymore?
