Well, all the public school kids started school last week here. Most of the charter school kids started today. When are we starting school this year? I am still not really sure. That is one of the benefits of private homeschooling.

One of the reasons we are not starting yet is that I think it is still too early in August to start school. The other reason is I am still hammering out lesson plans and just today, was able to get some computer issues resolved.

Some great advice that I read before Matthew started high school was to plan lessons, but don't date them. Boy did this relieve stress in my life! Life happens and there are just some days when book work does not get done. I use Donna Young's high school forms to plan out Matthew's lessons now. I use the 36 week quarter planner. And I only plan out 8 weeks out of each quarter. This gives us some elbow room for field trips and other things that may come up (and they do!)

I also want to re-vamp our daily schedule and menus for the week. After listening to an organization talk, I am really feeling like applying more order to our days. Maybe in a couple of weeks, I will have more things together and we will be ready to start school!
