FOR TODAY
Sept. 28 2009
Outside my window... sunshine finaly!! it is cool, crisp and beutiful today

I am thinking...about my sister in law and her family. she was preg. with her 5thchild and on sat. she had  a miscarage. i know what she is going through and it is hard. she was only wks and we were so excited (all of thefamily) names were already picked out.

I am thankful for...my boys they were so grown up this weekend. helping clean here and at my mom and grandparents,  house and both of them helped mow yards this weekend they are growing up so fast.

From the learning rooms...i went last leek and bought pocket charts for file folders so we could hang up or workfolders. and i have them all filled. i also found a bunch of abeka books at the local goodwill store for 99cents. how sweet was that. they will b put to good use next year. and the 49 cent work books i am already useing  and i cant beleive the chage in the boys if i dont have the folders ready they get upset. they dont like working with out having it layed out that way. and we get alot more done this way!!

From the kitchen... the boys had left over chicken befor i got up and for lunch we had more leftover chicken and fresh corn. and for supper salmon patties, potatoes and peas as for the rest of the week chili, porksteak on the grill and whatever else i come up with.

I am wearing...a blanket, but i love the fall weather we are having

I am creating...the crochet is on hold for a while but i have full intintions to get back to it. as well as a trip to craft store for things for the boys to make for fall and christmas gifts for family. thsi may not happen this week

I am going..nowere if i can get away with it.  latter i may need to go to the library.

.
I am reading...not much dont have alot of time for this. i am gonna try to read to the boys more. before thay get so big they dont want me too!

I am hoping...for my grandma to come home from the hosp. soon. so we can visit her. our local hosp. has refused to let anyone under 17 in the doors.due to widespred swine flu. even the employees who are under 18 are off till the flu season is over. so the boys havent been able to go see here.(no i wouldnt even if they could we are trying to stay out of public places. the public schools here are full of the flu and so are the hospitals.

I am hearing...the boys at the table working. and the wind as it blows outside the windows. I LOVE FALL WEATHER!!

Around the house...I stayed with his sister sat. night because her husband was out of town and my lovely husband cleaned and done dishes, and we were gone or outside most of the day yesterday so my house looks pretty good at the moment. just  a little laundry that i am working on.

One of my favorite things...as if i havent said it fall weather. i enjoy open windows and bowls of chilli. and on a good year a hayride in the woods or even a fourwheeler ride to the back of the property. and i so hope that we get a camping trip soon while the weather is like it is now. and the fall color change. ok thats it i want to go camping in the mountains and soon!!

A few plans for the rest of the week:....school, fall cleaning, getting things ready for winter. hubbs is takeing a day off this week to keep from loosing it i think his plan is to start on an outbuilding that is much needed. and to get a cover bought for the camper.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

this was taken in gulf shores out by fort morgan. i dont know whatthey were called but i thought they we so beautifull.

allergies, camping and new workbox system!

Well the camping trip went great! I again forgot the camera so sorry no pics! We all now have allergy problems cough runny noses and headache so we are moving slow. I am starting something new today. I have read alot about the workbox system and how to make it your own, so ... we are useing file folders I already had and each kid has 8 folders and 30 min to finish the activity inside or it becomes work for later. they like it because it lets them do things that we forgot we had like hot dots, legos, and games. (they are only on folder number 3 and it is the first day). I may come back latter and let you know how it goes but I think it will work for us!! Here is a preveiw is all goes as planned:30 min for each folder,(15min if both are done) 30 min outside every day and at the end of the day 1 hour of hush time in your room reading, playing , finishing up your days work so I can do dishes ,cook, fill folders for next day, or work one on one with the boys as needed. Inside each folder is a worksheet, paper or post it note telling them what to do or what book they need. All of our books are on a shelf, or in there box. so all we have out at one time is the book we are useing and the folder. it seems to be much better than the stacks of books piled on my table.

CAMPING....NOT ONLY A SM. VACATION BUT CAN BE COUNTED AS A FEILD TRIP!!

We have been blessed with a new camper,23ft cub, it is a hybrid meaning it has fold out beds on the end and is still a big pull behind. We are loving it too! we have camped the last 2 weekends and are planning to go agian this weekend. we like going to Defeated creek and saltlick campgrounds. this past sat. we were on the boat and seen alot of wildlife first we seen 3 deer and they were only about 10-15 ft away from us and then a big crane and as we went on a big black skunk! yes at 2pm , broad daylight, a skunk was by the water. we didnt hang there long we went on around the bank. I wish i could post pic's but i forgot the camera. i will remember it this weekend and post pictures.

we are done for the day with homeschool i am learning to use books with tapes and computer games that teach math, phonics, and history and the kids like them better than books but i still make them do some basic book work too.

I have also tackled the lesson plan for nest week, just hope we stay on track and get it done. I wont make anymore plans for the week of the 14th due to my grandmother having surg. she is in her 80's and we dont know how it will go. she will need rehab and my grandfather is not realy able to stay alone so we may have to help with one or both and I will be glad to do it. My nursing skills may come in handy again. as i have lost most of them and would rather dig ditches as to work as a nurse again! after 12 years of doing so. your right i dont realy mean that. but going back to public nursing is something i would have to pray long and hard over.

HOW??

How ..............

Do you get done with your day by lunch?

Do you keep your kids on track and avoid the I got to ...(anything but get my work done)?

Do you scedule your day, week, month, school year ?

Far ahead do you plan?

These are all questions that i would like to know from differnt people. this would help me tweek my day a little..maybe.

If we have to go anywhere or do anything out of the normal for the day or week it throws us all off.

SO HOW DO YOU STAY ON TRACK AND GET ANYTHING ELSE DONE?

Has anyone had any trouble with abeka math 4?

Well as I am sitting here cooking supper I was adding the weeks. We are finishing our 4th week of this year and already I have had to change my lesson plan. BJ is having alot of trouble with abeka math 4. Now I know that big numbers can be hard at first but...(last year we used spectrum math and it is too easy)... after backtracking some I thought he would be ok. I was wrong. If anyone has any sugestions I would like to hear them. Is this common to take a while to warm up to abeka math?

On a better note we are having a good year. It seams to be takeing a while to settle in and get back on a scedule but, we are comeing along. This year is our first year of useing alot of abeka and if we get past the math 4 thing next year I would like to go all abeka.
