Pathway to Heaven

First Friday of February

Ok, today is the First Friday of February.  It also happens to be Groundhog Day.....and Candlemas....and the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord.....and cold.....BUT it was a dry day!  We here in Houston have had so much "yuck" lately.  Wet but not rain.  Makes everything a mess.  Well, hey, life goes on!

Kyra graduated from "A" school today!  She is a certified, bona fide Hospital Apprentice-somestimes known as Corpsman.  She starts "C" school on Monday-she is going into dental.  It wasn't her first choice but she will leave the Navy with skills in both areas and the ability to get a job.  Her and Michael are still an item.  We all miss her but especially Cameron-he still hasn't grasped the fact that Kyra doesn't live here anymore!

Zachary is off this weekend with his dad as part of a Confirmation Team.  Xavier is cooking for the retreat while Zachary is giving a talk on Faith and Trusting God.  He told us that he still feels God might be calling him to the vocation of priest.  That is a big statement coming from him.  We'll pray that God's will be done and that Zach will be open to any path God calls him to.

Alex has decided he wants nothing to do with Alief schools next year.  We attended the Pope John 23rd open house on Wednesday and were suitably impressed.  After the latest gang fight/shootout at the highschool, we are in complete agreement with him.  Next year will either be homeschool or private.  He goes to take the Placement Test in the morning.  Again, prayers that God's will be done.  The funding will have to come from HIM-being a one income family with 5 kids, funds are pretty thin these days.  God will provide.  Baseball tryouts finally began today-the rest of the week was rained and washed out.  They supposedly have a scrimmage on Tuesday-the coaches will just pick some kids to go-finally placements won't be determined for at least another week or so-bummer!

Cameron is having some growing pains.  He's bored with regular schoolwork and just wants to play or watch tv.  Mom will have to be pretty crafty for a while to get his interest peeked.  Good thing next week is filled with field trips-Forbidden Gardens of Katy, Houston Museum of Natural Science (his group has a space mission), and mom's Bible Study Group, intermixed with YMCA PE classes and spanish class.  Hopefully it'll be a fun week and the weather will cooperate.

Isaac is working on his english language skills.  He's a regular little parrot these days....until he really wants something and then he turns into a monkey...oh, oh, oh, oh,oh!  He is definitely male-gravitates towards tools-the more powerful the better, sports equipment, and the tv remote.  The animals have learned to keep one eye open at all times and that Isaac NEVER sits down unless he's sleeping and that is highly debateable sometimes, too.

Xavier is working like crazy and not liking it at all.  Hopefully they will hire someone to help out soon.  He is worried about his test results but we won't know anything until next Friday.  There is nothing we can do in the meantime-it is all in God's hands where it belongs.

I have been hard at work being wife and mom and I feel like I've been only mediocre at best at those vocations.  Need some good r & r, wine, and some sunny (not fire pits of hell august in houston hot) weather.  Or a field trip to Michaels will do, too!  That is on my to-do list for tomorrow while Alex takes his test.  Shop Therapy!

Happy Weekend Everyone!
