Well it is right on midnight and it's been a bugger of a day. Today was cleaning day-tomorrow is Zachary's Graduation/18th Birthday/Going Away party and so far we have 60 RSVP's. We've planned a VERY laid back day at the park where the kids can run and play and folks can enjoy some cold watermelon and good company. Only problem is this darned Tropical Storm Erin keeps dumping rain on us so the back up plan is our house! We've set this as a Come and Go event-sort of Open House style and we're hoping if we do have to have it here then people will stagger their visits. So we're cleaning the night away. I really wanted the living room carpet cleaned-it was really scary! Today was a full day-Xavier was at a Confirmation Catechist Training all day which left me to whip the boys (uncooperative ones at that) into shape. Didn't happen. We had a birthday party to attend in a town about 15 miles away at 1 and Alex had to be at the school in another town about 40 minutes away at 3. Whew it was wild and tense there for a while! At the last minute Cameron decided he didn't want to leave the party so he hid-took us about 10 extra minutes to find him....then we discovered that he lost his shoes-his one and only brand new pair of tennis shoes-so another 10 minutes to find those which of course made us 15 minutes late for the school. The football team was supposed to meet at 3 and leave at 3:30. We got there at 3:15 and the team was loading on the bus. Alex didn't even get to suit up which wasn't too bad since he couldn't play this game due to an injury this week but man, I HATE being late! Fortunately we know the coach and he knows our kids and wasn't too surprised at the circumstances. I promised to do better at this on time thing as well. Then we had to go back home to pick up dad and then head to another town about 30 minutes away for the game which was a scrimmage which dear son didn't play in.....but he did get to be the ball guy so technically he was on the field........About 3rd quarter, youngest son Isaac goes ballistic. Two little girls kept trying to convince me to let him out of the stroller...haha we laughed at that one-we were litterally sitting on the track-if we had let Isaac out of the stroller he would have been tackling someone on the field and intercepting the ball!!!!
Later we're back in the car following the bus-it's 9pm and we haven't eaten since 1. Dear dad made a french fry and soda run during 3rd quarter so the screaming banshee would bring it down a notch. Then we're off to feed at 9:30 at night. Home at 10:30pm. Cleaning carpets and bathroom sinks and last load of laundry of the day. Of course the baby and the 8 year old are out like lights. Two oldest are up. The dog is going nuts in his crate cause we're all up-he's used to lights out no later than 10pm.
Tomorrow really is another day. Zachary's last day at church with us for a long time. A party to host. Afterwards, we have the first REAL day of school to prepare for on Monday for Alex and Cameron. Zach will finally be free to pack his stuff in peace. His flight leaves for St. Paul on Thursday. Now if the hurricane will just give us that little bit of time. This boy is already worried and scared. I am stressed enough for the both of us!
Did I mention we haven't even shopped for this party? Well we haven't. God will provide...he always does.
