I can always tell it was a good day when the 8 year old falls asleep in the car!
We left a feverish 2 year old home with dad so we had a nice quiet ride to the Museum. Without the 2 year old in tow I was able to attend Cameron's class-which was on snakes (yuck). We got to look at and touch real snakes (double yuck...I'm SO glad he's taking this class at the Museum!). We got to go back into the Snakes and Lizards exhibit for another treat and then the icing on the cake was the python who hasn't moved in a month (since they put him on exhibit) was climbing the walls.....literally...I'm not kidding.....he was climbing the glass walls of the exhibit! One of the curators casually mentions it must be his feeding time......great, with a class of frisky little 2-4th graders sitting at his windows......made me just a tad nervous........
Then we got to explore the Butterfly exhibit. Always fun. The curators were very helpful today-even with their hands full with what seemed like a bazillion other students......
For a rare treat, I was going to buy McDonalds for Cameron and I but it seemed like every child in the Museum was in the McDonalds (which happened to be smaller than my bedroom......so another homeschooling friend offered to share their lunch and we took them up on it.
Then we got to see the IMAX movie....The Alps....great movie!
AND THEN Cameron and I zipped on over to the Houston Zoo to check out the birds and bats. We're finishing up lessons on birds and starting bats. Then while trying to leave, a zoo employee asks us to help her with guess what.....a python snake skin! Ok, what's with this snake theme here...? In another exhibit an employee was giving us a tortoise to check out....needless to say, we left before they decided to give us bats to check out....
Cameron fell asleep soon after we left the park. It's been a loooonnnnggg day!
