We were at a lovely Christmas party at a dear friend's beautiful house. There were 6 families-12 adults and 26 dear children under the age of 16 (they were all so cute!). The children were having a lot of fun and were wonderfully surprised by a visit from Santa. There was tons of great food and drink. The company was delightful. Now this house is beautiful. They have a hot tub and pool. They have a trampoline. They have two staircases. They live in a cul-de sac perfect for football games and running around.
Did anyone fall into the pool? NO. Did anyone fall down the stairs? NO. Did anyone get hurt on the trampoline? NO. No. No. No. What happened was children kept running into each other!!!!!! Alot!!!!!
The grand finale of the evening was a group of kids coming into the house with my dear 8 yr old son leading the pack.......face, hands, shirt, pants (brand new of course) bloody and trailing blood into the beautifully tiled kitchen. We knew right away this would require stitches-it was really impressive! What happened? He ran into another boy who caught Cameron's brow with his two front teeth! Neither of them cried....in fact I don't think Cameron even knew what happened! Needless to say we closed the party down. Car seats were moved around and we headed to the nearest 24 hour ER. This was a wonderful place! The staff was very kind and compassionate. Cam was almost hysterical about getting stitches. These guys were great and they had 3 stitches in before he knew what was going on!
He had a very deep 2.5 inch laceration along his brow line. Because it involved another kid's mouth there was a high risk for bacteria so they irrigated it extremely well. They also had to do some good numbing since about halfway through the stitching they hit a nerve that hadn't quite deadened. Even with all that we were in and out of the ER in 2 hours! VERY impressive!

This morning my little man wakes up with his eye swollen completely shut. He was also suffering from a slight bought of shock. He was put on some strong antibiotics which had him throwing up. Fortunately he slept most of today.

It was sweet to see his dog, Leo, curled up on the couch with him!We had lunch with another dear family and the girls there just took great care of him. By this evening he was up and attempting to play.
We came home to find Aunts and Uncles and Cousins here. They have been playing but now the little guy ran out of steam. While the cousins are playing video games with their older cousin (my 15 year old), he has already changed and climbed into bed.
Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. We'll have more company, attend Mass and have a fun time. I pray Cameron is feeling better! He has asked for a scooter and rollerblades-both of which he will get-but might not get to use for a while! H only has to take the antibiotics for 4 more days and we'll stop on the way out of town on Friday to get the stitches removed.
He told me that he really wishes he could see right now-that's bothering him more than the stitches.....
We teased him today about taking the Harry Potter thing a bit too seriously!
