Whew! It's Finally Friday! I'm beginning to wonder about some of our timing for school. Cameron and I worked through a mound of schoolwork today. It wasn't pretty. After being away from schoolwork for about 2 weeks, it was REALLY hard getting him to refocus again. Next week will be another interruption with SAT/OLSTAT testing Tuesday-Friday, then he has Art on Tuesday afternoon, soccer Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and Sign Language on Friday.
The days are beautiful outside right now. 70's and 80's. In another month or two it will be almost unbearable outside with temps in the upper 80's and 90's (and if like usual, we'll even hit a 100 or so at some point) and humidity usually in the 70% or more daily. I think I would rather be outside enjoying this nice weather now, and inside (in the airconditioning/low humidity) during the summer. Now, convincing my son that summer might be better for schoolwork (and convincing his father and brothers) probably won't happen, BUT I'm thinking we'll go along a little at a time and see what happens. Our curriculum fair is next weekend and I'll be hopefully purchasing some of his curriculum for next year, so we can do maybe an hour or two a day (at the hottest part of the day when it hurts to even open the curtains because of the heat!). It will mean some changes in all of us. I just can't tell you how hard it was, when I went outside to put something in the mail today, I wanted to just stay out there all morning! BUT I knew we needed to crack the books in a big big way!
I'm going to pray about this a lot this year and "play it by ear". I'm also going to pray that my family's minds will be open to some change as well. I just know in my heart that here in Houston we get so few NICE days-the majority of our year is simply horrid with high temps and high humidity. There are heat index warnings and ozone watches probably 6 months out of our year here.
Oh well time to go fight some more fires. Cranky teens in the house.
