I have recently discovered a site called DailyLit . Here you can read books by email (or RSS). Some are free, some are not. Their free section is quite good with several classics in it. As a starter, I've signed up to read Swiss Family Robinson. Yes, I know it's a classic, and I'm sure somewhere along the years I've probably read it, but for the life of me, I can't remember anything beyond a shipwrecked family on a deserted island living in a tree house. Yes, I'm even pretty sure this book sits on my book case.....I think. Anyway, I started reading the emails and I'm intrigued. The opening chapters of the book have led me to think this would be a pretty great book to read with Cameron. To tie this in with my "summer activity" entry, I'm wondering,
a) Does anyone know if there is a Swiss Family Robinson unit study or lapbook out there?
b) Does anyone know of any good resources or links that might work for this book AND an 8-soon to be 9 year old boy and his 3 year old brother?
*Yes, we live "close" to the ocean (about an hour or so). Don't know of any "deserted islands" around here.
*No, we don't have a tree house, but we know someone who has one we might be able to "invade" every once in a while.....
Any help would be appreciated.....I'm a sucker for links and resources and I'm desperate to find some "fun" (sshhhh....educational) stuff for these boys!
