Proverbs 31
23: Her husband is prominent at the city gates as he sits with the elders of the land.
*While my dear husband is not "prominent" at the city gates, he works hard to be active in our parish and community. At church, he has been on Pastoral Council and has been Grand Knight and Deputy Grand Knight many times. He has taught CCE or Confirmation for the last 14 years or so. He has been active both as a sponsor and as a team member of our RCIA team. When our kids attended public school, he was active in the band boosters and has been asked several times to run for School Board. He has coached Little League Baseball for about 9 years. His job sometimes takes him away on business and his employers are confident in his ability to get the job done.
I don't mention these things to gloat or seem proudful in a negative way. I mention them in the light of this particular scripture. My husband can't do these things without love, support and prayers from home...particularly from his wife. He needs me here~he needs a good (semi-) organized home to come into at the end of the day. He needs happy, healthy children. He needs good healthy meals to eat. He needs daily prayer from me and his children. He needs to know that when he is called out of town on business, we will work together as a family to keep things running smoothly and safely, happily awaiting his return. When I and my children do these things for my husband, he is better equiped to go out into the world to accomplish God's will. He is better equipped to be a strong, male, Christian influence in a world that would rather he not be there~but so desperately needs more men like him.
I love you big guy! Happy Father's Day! We Still Miss You!
