Yep! It's officially "FRY AN EGG ON THE SIDEWALK DAY". The little western Arizona town of Oatman is scheduled to hold its annual Sidewalk Egg Fry on July 4. Apparently, frying an egg on the sidewalk is a big thing in some parts... It needs to be around 95 degrees Fahrenheit to make it happen (sun shining helps, too) and we have that temp or hotter most of the year!
Things to do today:
*Fry an egg on the sidewalk~for directions, see this website: http://www.eggs.ab.ca/kids/Tricks/eggtrick007.htm
*Read Green Eggs and Ham
It's also the Feast of St. Thomas, the apostle.

St. Thomas, the disciple who at first did not believe, has become for the Church one of the first witnesses to her faith. She is fond of appealing to his testimony and frequently puts in our mouths those simple words whereby he expressed the fervour of his regained faith: "My Lord and my God." It is known that St. Thomas preached the Gospel in Asia beyond the frontiers of the Roman Empire, probably in Persia and possibly as far afield as India.
At the Jimenez home, it's also known as "Paint Your T-Shirt Day"! Every year for ? years, it has been our family tradition to make t-shirts for the 4th of July. Patriotic t-shirts. We have done all kinds.. from ones we find in magazines to completely original ones. Two of my personal favs were the "United We Stand" t-shirt of 2001 (we each painted our feet with stars and stripes and did imprints on our shirts, and the "All Hands On Deck" t-shirt of 2007 in honor of our favorite sailor-Kyra (I made a logo which we ironed on then every family member did a hand print on everyone else's shirt). This year we're tie-dyeing! Never tried it before so who knows what will happen! We've invited friends over to share the fun (hopefully someone will have some knowledge of what we're doing...).
Yea! for summer!
