From one of my earlier entries you will note that Cameron started the mummification process for King Cluckankhamen. I must note that to the salt mixture that we used, we also chose to use some spices-cinnamon, cloves, allspice and a dash of pumpkin pie spice. It actually smelled rather nice. We also used a nice red wine for part of the process. I checked him a couple of times today and as Cameron would say, it smelled like Thanksgiving. So I'm thinking to myself, ok, this isn't too bad.
Well we left around 5:45pm to get Alex from school and then got dinner and headed to the church for various functions. Imagine our surprise when we got home a while ago and when we open the door we are hit with this "!smell?" It's definitely chicken but I'm thinking to myself but it was fine just a while ago!!! Alex pinpointed it right away-he says no mom-it's the trash can!!! Silly me!!! I usually rinse anything that touches meat or food that goes into the trash to keep some of the smell down and to keep animals from flocking to our cans on trash day. Also, usually when we are cooking anything that has meat or fish or chicken packaging then that trash goes out pretty quickly. Well, today we were so caught up in the excitement of mummification then choir, then naps, then CCE that ....well...we forgot. I didn't even rinse the packaging so it left such a "ripe" smell in the air! Immediately the trash went OUT and we sprayed disinfectant spray and now the house smells much better.
So, so far, it's NOT the chicken....that guy smells like Thanksgiving!! Tomorrow we get to change the salt mixture again.....that's when the real test will come!!
So far, Story of the World rocks! Next up...sugar cube pyramids!!!
