Hey! Good News! We survived the weekend!!! Busy as usual-First Friday Mass, bowling, football game, dinner with friends, church, band practice, band concert.....yep...we survived! I'll try to post some pictures from the band concert soon. Alex had football practice on Saturday morning and we were so blessed with beautiful weather-nice and cool. We dropped him off and had a nice breakfast at a small family owned restaurant close to the school. Then we headed to a nearby park that my husband had never gotten the chance to visit. They had miniature golf there and Xavier and the two little guys had a blast playing both courses. We also went for a walk and I took some rare "me" time to just sit and soak in God's beauty and the wonderful sounds of LIFE all around me.
So far, King Cluckankhamen is doing fine, well, from a mummification standpoint. Cameron will be doing a sugar cube pyramid this week, too. We watched a great dvd from the history channel about mummification and the pyramids. Hopefully, with all these different approaches to history (audial, visual, tactile, and written), he will really enjoy learning. So far, I'm quite pleased with the Story of the World curriculum for him.
This weekend, Isaac started Little Church (Sunday School for 3 year olds). We were so pleased to find out he is in a class with his two buddies-Ryan and Faith-when they are together, Xavier calls them Harry/Ron and Hermione. They are the only children in that class right now (it can be difficult to get 3 year olds up for an 8am class.....) He had a lot of fun and learned about prayer.
On the horizon for us is Mr. Ike.....we here in the Houston/Galveston area have so far been spared from any big storms so now people are starting to get "hurricane fatigue". This means so many people are just so numbed by all the media attention that the storms are getting that they may now not pay attention to any direct threats to themselves. This could be a bad thing. We were supposed to be gone this weekend to an out of town football game and a baptism, and now it looks like we might have to also evac the animals as well. Should be interesting, to say the least. Well, we'll keep an eye and ear out for Mr. Ike.....
Hope your weekend was blessed!
