Curriculum Reviews

Posted in Curriculum

A couple of people have already participated in my curriculum reviews.

Amy from Blah, Blah, Blog has suggested Ambleside Online.  She says even her wiggly boys sit through the lessons.  I would love to hear more about that if anyone wants to write about it.

B*Avenue Boys School has her curriculum reviews here

Boo4baby posted her reviews here.  At the end of her reviews she writes that there is no "perfect" curriculum.  It's what fits your family at a certain time.  That is a really important thing to remember.  I am having a hard time finding what works for my 7 yo.  I hope by getting a better understanding of how different curriculums work, I will be able to find something that he will enjoy.

I hope more people will write up thier reviews.  If you have done so previously, you can just give me the link to them and I will put them up here.

I had "Mama2Four" as you, for some reason! I just went back this morning to change it. I don't know where I got that profile name. I want to always call you Dorie! : )

I love the new look on your blog! And 16 lbs!!! I am motivated just looking at that thing! How do I get one on my blog!? I need some help with my blog! I am so computer illiterate. Amber has tried to help me, but she lives too far away!

Blessings,
Becky

I think I will write a little review for you... :) It is just so great that I'd like to share it! - That said, it may not be for everyone!

I'll post back here again when I have it ready.

BTW, most people start Year One when their kiddos are 6-7ish and from there go on. Figuring out where an older child would begin is a litte bit trickier, since it is not based on grade level necessarily. Here's a link to more information on this very thing:
http://amblesideonline.org/FAQ.shtml#05whatyear
http://amblesideonline.org/FAQ.shtml#06start
5. At which Year/level should I place my child?
6. How soon can my child start Year 1?

You're right, there is A LOT to read on the AO site. But if you become interested, you'll be glad, because I think pretty much all the questions have an answer somewhere on there. I also subscribe to the e-mail list (which is great support)

About Me

Oh, the crazy things that happen in my house.... I am the wife of M for 8 years now. I am the mother of a 10 yo boy - D, 6 1/2 yo boy - N, 4 yo girl - Princess C, 2 1/2 yo boy -Toddler B, and girl Lil' L born May 18. I've been homeschooling since 2003. I lean towards a Charlotte Mason approach, but more often than not, it's "whatever works".
