T.V. Free Challenge

Posted in Family

For a couple of weeks I have been thinking about going tv free for a week, but I knew my hubby would never go for it.  So then I thought the kids and I would just do it, but I never said anything out loud.  It was still a thought in my head.  A couple days ago, my hubby came home and told me that Nancy Leigh DeMoss has put out a 30-day challenge.  No tv for the month of August.  I was so excited!  I start babbling about how I was wanting to do it and such, and I see the look on his face.  He is very worried and he thinks I am a nut.  So I said, "Let's try it for a week."  HE AGREED!  So starting today - no tv!  Anyone going to join us?  I DARE you!  hehehehehe.....

Well, that depends. Is Major League Baseball going on strike?

Seriously, there is nothing wrong with watching TV, it's really the choices and, especially, the amount of time spent watching TV. If we are self-disciplined and watch only 30 minutes or so (or in my case, 3 hrs for a game but I play with the kids on the floor while watching it) then it does not control us. It's when we are running it all evening or all day, and have withdrawal symptoms if its off, that it becomes the monster.

About Me

Oh, the crazy things that happen in my house.... I am the wife of M for 8 years now. I am the mother of a 10 yo boy - D, 6 1/2 yo boy - N, 4 yo girl - Princess C, 2 1/2 yo boy -Toddler B, and girl Lil' L born May 18. I've been homeschooling since 2003. I lean towards a Charlotte Mason approach, but more often than not, it's "whatever works".
