Our New Pool

OLD POOL:

At the beginning of the summer, I was toying with the idea of buying a new pool because we were outgrowing this one.  It was 10 ft by 2 ft, just perfect for the boys when they were smaller.  They still fit good in it, but if you added anymore people, it got crowded.  We had used it two years and only paid $50 for it, so we definitly got our money's worth.  But in the end, I decided that we would use it one more year and I would look for a new one at the end of summer.  Of course that was before I knew the top ring leaked and I would have to fill it up everyday.  But I still told myself we didn't need a new one because it was still good enough and besides, we already filled it up with water.  Then the filter broke.  Well, I will just have to do a lot of vacuuming.  Then we had to duct tape one of the hoses because it broke.  Who cares, the filter is already broke, right?  I came home from somewhere (can't remember, but the point is, I came home), walked through the gate, looked at my pool and saw that it was half empty. The other hose got a rip and half of the water drained out.  And it was right at the beginning of the big heat wave.  So I said, that's it!  I am going to get a new pool now!  Of course having 4 kids and one being a baby, I couldn't exactly go "now" but I did go out the next day which was as close to "now" as I could get.  I only wanted one a little bit bigger, so I settled on 15 ft x 36 in.  15 ft, that's only 5 ft bigger than mine, right?  Wrong!  We were lying the thing on the ground and it was gi-normous!

As you can see, we had to move the poor swing set.   The pool boasts set up in 15 minutes.  HA!  That's not including taking apart and moving the swing set, digging up some plants and filling in holes with dirt.  But, it was worth it.  We LOVE it!  It is a perfect size!  We got the tarp, pool, filter, skimmer, floating skimmer, ladder, cover, solar cover, and vacuum for $200.  It was so worth it!  We were out there everyday in the heat.  And the solar cover?  Works wonders!!  In two days the water was like bath water.  Which was kinda warm in 100 degree heat.  My hubby even joined in the fun, and he hates pools!

And just for bearing with me on this long post and because I want to post Baby B in the pool, you get your first look at my face.....

Sigh... I'm no longer a mystery....

Ah, that looks wonderful. If we didn't have our own pool I'd be jealous. :-)

You look great, btw. I wish I looked that good.

You look remarkably lovely in a swimsuit. How'd you do that? I can only manage to look like an overheated cow.

Oh how nice!!! We wanted to get a pool similar to that this year, but alas it will have to wait until next year! *sigh*

And thanks for the picture of yourself too! Beautiful!

What a great story! I'm sorry, I had to chuckle at a few parts! And the pool looks like so much FUN!!! From the looks of the photos, I'd say your family is thoroughly enjoying it. Your children are adorable! Yea, we get to meet another beautiful blogger via photos!

Isn't it always that way with a cool project...one thing leads to another to another...but in the end, it's worth it.

Hi, it is nice to put a face to your blog. Good picture.
I gave in and got one of those pools also but it is the 12' x 30" one. My hubby wasn't happy at first but changed his mind when it got really hot out. He was on the swim team in high school so I know that he was thrilled to finally have a pool that we could all fit in.
Well sounds like you have been having a pretty good summer.
Have a beautiful day and I will try and come by your blog more often,
Christina
