As per a contest on Seeking Rest in the Ancient Paths, here are my plans for this next year.
When I first planned on homeschooling, I thought I was a textbook person. I wanted everything to be spelled out for me. I wanted plans. I wanted to make sure my son was learning everything he was supposed to learn and then some. Then I started homeschooling. I used Saxon math and that was about it. I looked into unit studies. I thought that was a neat idea. But I am just no good at planning ahead. So, for the next year wanted to find a full curriculum with lesson plans and everything I needed. School in a box... errr.. several boxes, rather. I went with K12. It is an awesome program. There are so many neat things the kids learn, and do. Way too much, in fact. We managed to get through not quite half of the curriculum by the end of the year. So, the following year, I bought a few different things, but yet again, I am no good at planning. We go through things so slowly because I didn't plan ahead and request a book from the library, or grade math problems, or whatever. This year, I plan on giving Ambleside Online a try. I hope upon hope that this will work for us. I own alot of the books already, and some of the books are free online. They have a weekly plan. I have been trying to find a form so that I can take each week and break it down into days. This year should be easier than the last few since I am not pregnant and my baby is 7 mo old (not newborn). I also plan on using Apologia's Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day. We are going to continue learning signing, and I bought some spanish CDs for my kids to listen to so they can start picking up some of that. I would also like to continue to learn Amercian history. There is alot we missed last year, like the whole pilgrim/thansgiving thing (ever heard that story? ;-) ) OO... and I found a really neat scripture memory idea that I want to begin as soon as possible. If you get anything from this post, I hope it is this idea. It sounds so neat.

Aug. 21, 2006 - Beautiful Blog!
We are using Heart of Wisdom this year... loosely.
I say loosely, only because I am making up most of the Unit Studies. I am going to follow the Approach very closely, though, as it is a Bible-First Approach.
Many blessings to you as you have a wonderful year!
