My Friend, the Robin

Posted in Household stuff

I am sitting here listening to the robins singing outside.  It is such a lovely sound.  A sound I haven't heard in months.  Cherrio-cherrium.  My windows are open and a nice breeze is flowing through.  And more importantly, the house is quiet.  The babys are in bed and the boys are at church.  I am so happy right now.

Baby B has been getting into so much trouble lately.  He has hit his terrible twos.  Most of my kids don't hit that stage until age 3.  He is 15 months!!  He is actually whining in bed right now and I hear Princess C "shh, shhhhhhhh".  How funny.  Anyway, he won't take no for an answer.  If he wants something, the only way to keep him from it is to put it out of his reach.  And then he throws a fit.  He has anger issues already.  He throws things and knocks things over.

Bummer, the robin stopped singing.

All the kids have been giving me trouble.  They have spring fever, I guess.  I have been letting them play outside as much as possible, but it only seems to make their behavior worse.  We are stopping school in May, so we only have a little over a month to go until we get at least a month off.

I am trying to finish up the kids math.  N will be half way through Saxon 1 in a few lessons and D is trying to get to the end of 5/4.  We have also been working our way through all the half finished workbooks laying around.  I am in spring cleaning mode and everything has got to go!  My sil is having a garage sale in a couple of weeks and I am frantically grabbing anything and everything to throw in it.  I cleaned off our front porch today.  One room down... umm... I don't even want to count how many more to go.

Yippee, the robin is singing again.

I just wanted to post a little update since it has been awhile.  I am going to put some more things up on ebay.  Hopefully I will be able to check up on all of you tonight.

Oh, and our bathroom has been approved by our village.  We are done!!!

Hi, sis! :) Congrats, congrats, and praise the Lord on the finished bathroom project!!!!! :) I am so happy that is all finished! Yippee!
Hey, I have been in exactly the same spring cleaning mode as you are: all the extra stuff has to GO! :) So far, I have only two rooms all cleaned up from junk: Beeper's bedroom and one bathroom. They have finally installed the shower in the other bathroom except now they have to paint it, which means another two-three week project....Man, I will consider it a miracle if they get it all done by the time you visit us in May! These people are soooo sloooooow...:)
I love you all so much!

Sorry about your little one. My kids normally hit it at 3 as well. Except DB3 who turned out to have Celiac Disease. Have you checked for food allergy triggers?

OK, so we are living some very similar experiences lately. Seriously!

My 15-month old Sebastian gets ticked off WAY easily and throws things. I mean, he's in his play yard, tries to get a toy in a container, can't do it and WHAM, the toy flies outta there. It's crazy. If he gets ticked off enough, he starts just smacking the person/object. SHEESH. So, I hear you. When he does that, I feel a little, uhm, concerned for his teen years. LOL

Could it be that we're on the same schedule??? We do year-round school with breaks as needed. Right now, we're looking to finish up like the first of May or so, and then we're doing a month off and starting in June. I keep thinking, "This is the weirdest schedule" but it's just how things worked with the 36 weeks of school and doing year-round.

With school coming in June, I've been all into getting things ready and cleaning. I find that weird (of myself, LOL) because we are still finishing the year. LOL

Awwww, I loved your description of listening to the songbird and enjoying the peaceful moment. Very sweet. Made me think about treasuring the rare but precious quiet times in my life too.

I so can't believe that you said (eons ago in my blog) that you don't have any friends. I read your blog and always think, "This gal would be so cool to have as an IRL friend." Well, I'll have to settle for an e-pal. *grin*

Take care. Enjoy your weekend!

About Me

Oh, the crazy things that happen in my house.... I am the wife of M for 8 years now. I am the mother of a 10 yo boy - D, 6 1/2 yo boy - N, 4 yo girl - Princess C, 2 1/2 yo boy -Toddler B, and girl Lil' L born May 18. I've been homeschooling since 2003. I lean towards a Charlotte Mason approach, but more often than not, it's "whatever works".
