When we moved into this house, one of the first rooms I painted was D's room. It took me for-ev-er. But D loved it. And then N moved in and he loved it too.

The ceiling was outer space with stars and rockets and the aliens from Toy Story. Then there was sky and then grass. The original plan was to put cars and planes and stuff as well, but I was DONE after having to put three coats of each color and then all the stars. Last week I had to paint over it. It was so sad. I couldn't believe I was doing it. Two coats of primer and two coats of paint... ugh. D and N were upset as well. D was in tears. N asked, "Are you going to paint over Grandpa H?" I was like, "Huh?" And he pointed up to the smiley I had made on the ceiling:

Apparently, N had decided it was Grandpa up in Heaven. That was so sweet and sad. I didn't want to paint over it, but I didn't think the new owners would appreciate a small spot on the ceiling with purple paint and a star smiley face. In the new house, I will make a large picture and tape it to the ceiling for the boys.
