Homeschooling in Illinois

Yosemite

While out in California, we visited Yosemite.  We rented a house with my brother and and his family.  It was beautiful!!  The deck was awesome and it had a hot tub.

The kids had a blast playing in the outdoor shower.

Here is N and Cousin A running in Yosemite Valley:

And Baby B runny away in Yosemite Valley:

We stayed in Yosemite for 4 days and then headed home from there.  We decided to go through the park rather than back track waaaay back and around it.  BAD IDEA.  I thought we were going to die.  We curved around and around through the mountains for 3 1/2 hours.  I was having a hard time breathing.  I was clutching the door and the arm rest the whole time.  And I couldn't take my eyes off the road.  And I wasn't the one driving!!  But I still felt that if I wasn't watching, we would fall off.  And if we fell off, nobody would ever find us because we would be reduced to rubble and noone even knew we took that way home.  Ugh.  And then we went through Tioga pass (or something sounding like that) and that was like 2 or 3 S curves in a row with a mountain straight up one side of you and a drop off on the other.  No room for error.  I was nearly in tears when I saw it coming.  It was unreal.  But there was a really pretty lake up there (half frozen still as we were up nearly 10,000 ft).

It was so sad to leave my family.  My and my brother have always been close and now me and my sil are really close.  And of course my sweet niece:

I have to pray really hard that they will get to come visit for Christmas.    Ok, gotta go before I start bawling....

Goodness, what beautiful pictures. Just gorgeous. I so want to go to Yosemite now. I've never been there.

It looked like so much fun .... Maaaaan, I wish I had a niece. Or nephew. Or SOME form of relative. We're a very small family.

And, awwwwwwwwwwwwwww, about your post on my blog. Awwwwwwwwwwwwww, you are so my friend and I'm not leaving you. I'll bug you constantly here on your blog. (Uhm, don't I already? LOL) And, in truth, I'll probably end up blogging twice a week because I've always got a few ideas for posts running around in the cage that is my mind. Hee.

And, ya know, crazy as it sounds, you can always email me: pixilated_momma@hotmail.com and I can bore you to death that way. LOL I actually have a handful of penpals made from the homeschool board, and we email frequently. I love those girlfriends though I've never seen them. Funny how attached I am to my e-girlfriends. That includes you!

Hugs,
your friend,
Maria

It is hard to leave family. But, oh the memories you have now from that trip!

The scenery made me really, deeply and tremendously homesick. *sigh* It's beautiful in the Rockies, isn't it?

Welcome home. Here's to Christmas! {{{hugs}}}

say, did you stay at the redwoods? that's where we stayed at christmas. very nice.

i really don't care for the sheer drop offs either, but they are necessary evils to get to places i want to go.

About Me

Oh, the crazy things that happen in my house.... I am the wife of M for 8 years now. I am the mother of a 10 yo boy - D, 6 1/2 yo boy - N, 4 yo girl - Princess C, 2 1/2 yo boy -Toddler B, and girl Lil' L born May 18. I've been homeschooling since 2003. I lean towards a Charlotte Mason approach, but more often than not, it's "whatever works".
