Snow and Guilt

Posted in Family
We got a good 4 inches or so of snow last night.  The kids are outside playing in it  right now.  Me?  I got enough cold letting them out the door and taking a few pictures.  I stayed inside to bake bread and drink hot chocolate.  Oh yeah, and blog.  Toddler B is missing out.  He has to nap.  Plus, I only have 3 piars of snow pants.  Poor Princess C's are a tad too small.  Guess I should get to the thrift store.... I really should think of these things ahead of time.  Oh well...  I was proud enough of myself that they all had winter coats before they actually needed them.
I don't think Princess C will last long out there.  The boys, however, could probably stay out there all day if I let them.  Wow, this house is quiet.  It sure is nice!  I have the smells of yeast bread in the over and pork roast in the crockpot finding their way up my nose.  Mmmmm.... Now that's the one good thing about winter.  You can put your oven on all day and not sweat yourself out of the house.
The dog is really enjoying herself outside.  She loves to stick her nose in the snow.  So the boys are playing catch with her and she will stick her nose in the snow and yank it up quickly so the snow flies everywhere.  I think she might be having the most fun out of all of them.  Shhh... don't tell I was talking nice about that smelly old thing...
I was such a crab yesterday.  I am again today.  And probably will be again tomorrow.  Thus the life of a pregnant woman.  I was really short and mean to the kids.  I was reading blogs, and two in particular really made me feel guilty.  Amy's and Ann's.  I felt so guilty that I let D make dinner.  And if you know me, you know that I can't stand to have anyone in my kitchen while I cook.  Unless they know what they are doing.  I can't take the time to think about how to teach you how to do something.  I have too many things running through my head.  And if I let one child in, they all want in.  And I am not that talented.  Anyway, I let D cook.  He is 9 and he really ought to know how.  I should have taught him a long time ago so he could have been cooking these last few months when I havn't felt like it.  He made meatloaf, baked potatoes and frozen veggies.  I guided him through it, but for the most part, he did it all by himself.  And I didn't even yell at him.    It turned out good, and he was beaming with pride.  It took some convincing to get him to stick his hands in the raw meat, but he eventually did.
I guess I was wrong in thinking Princess C would be back in.  She is having a blast out there.  They have built a pile of snow and are trying to sled down it.
My computer is still not working.  I do have some pictures on photobucket to post.  I think I will go try to do that now.  The last time I tried, the photobucket site froze.  Adios!

About Me

Oh, the crazy things that happen in my house.... I am the wife of M for 8 1/2 years now. I am the mother of a 10 yo boy - D, 6 1/2 yo boy - N, 4 yo girl - Princess C, 2 1/2 yo boy -Toddler B, and girl Lil' L 1, and a new little blessing due Jan 31. I've been homeschooling since 2003. I lean towards a Charlotte Mason approach, but more often than not, it's "whatever works".
