We're Moving

Posted in Our Move
Yup, you read that right!  Can you believe it?  We got a full price offer on our house yesterday!  Of course that was lowering the price how many times.... But, we were floored.  Who offers full price in this market?  So now comes the decision of where to go.  Hubby was supposed to get his transfer this month, but it never came and now they say the earliest is next year!!  So we are stressing and trying not to kill each other as we come up with a decision.  We seem to not be on the same page.  We both keep changing our minds about what to do and our minds our never changed together.  But as we lay in bed last night discussing our options, we heard the ever so common police sirens and knew that no matter what, we were selling.  Plus, getting full price, we don't have to worry about if we should take the offer or not, so that sounds like a God thing, right?  I wish He would write on our walls the address of the house we should buy....  But no, the only writing on my walls is scribbles from Toddler B.  And they in no way resemble numbers.  I checked.
Our closing is April 15, so I should probably get going and figure out a packing plan.  Any suggestions on what to pack in what order?  I look around and feel like, how can I pack anything?  We use all this stuff.  I need help.  Mental.  Help.

I know this is what you prayed for... um, eight months ago. The timing! ACK! The timing! I have no words of wisdom, just know that I actually uttered an involuntary whimper when I read this post (and the most recent once since then) - this is not the easiest time to try to get on the same page w/ the hubster, what with all the weight and hormones and pressure and girth and hormones, and the occasional chemical-misunderstanding (my euphemism for "hormones").

However, I know you guys will pull it together with the grace and fortitude you've shown so often along the way. If you need some comiseration or if there's any way I can encourage you right now, please email me and let me know. You can do it! I'll be over here, praying.

Goodness, but the course of life never runs smoothly does it? I pray that God will provide you a clear path for which way to go.

As far as packing...pack winter clothes, pack holiday decor, pack extra sheets, towels, bedding, pack cookware you don't use very often, pack toys that aren't played with much,...these are just a few things to start with

I am sooo excited for you, guys, and praying, praying for that right house to be found quickly!!!
I cannot even imagine what moving and packing would look like with 4 children and being pregnant with the 5th one, so close to the end, too...I just pray that God would give you supernatural peace not to freak out and to try to take one moment at a time.
Maybe you could get a whole bunch of plastic bins and some big boxes (I'll ask B. where he got ours when we moved) and designate a certain area in the garage (not too far from the entrance) where you would pile them after they are packed (not you yourself, of course) with the marker writing on them about what's inside. I would pack away decorations like candles and picture frames and that kind of stuff, videos, records, tapes and CDs, gardening stuff, tools and appliances like waffle maker, blender, etc. This was a great time for us to give some stuff away to Good Will or some other place, to just critically decide whether something is worth keeping or not. Also, are you guys using movers' help??...I am not sure exactly what you are going to do, but when we moved, the guys from that company told us not to pack any dishes, glasses, crystal, or lamps. They packed it last thing by themselves. Also, because we used the moving compamy and were travelling across the country, I didn't entrust to them things like documents and important paperwork and some precious keepsakes like wedding photos and videos and stuff... I packed all that separately and we just transported it in the car with us....
And also, the movers told us we could not pack things like cleaning supplies and detergents, sprays, or anything flammable.. But again, I don't know what you guys are going to do, so that may not apply to you at all.
I wish so very much we were there right now to help you guys with packing or baby sitting....But if there's anything at all we can do from here, let me know...
Love you so much!

About Me

Oh, the crazy things that happen in my house.... I am the wife of M for 8 years now. I am the mother of a 10 yo boy - D, 6 1/2 yo boy - N, 4 yo girl - Princess C, 2 1/2 yo boy -Toddler B, and girl Lil' L born May 18. I've been homeschooling since 2003. I lean towards a Charlotte Mason approach, but more often than not, it's "whatever works".
