Tornado
Yesterday evening a tornado passed over us. Or a tornado cell... or something... but there were tornado sightings in our town. And a tornado hit southwest of us and north east of us. So, like I said, we were passed over.
I got a call from someone letting me know that there was a tornado heading her way and we were next. At that point, I had no idea we were under a warning. I turned on the tv only to find out that we had no satellite signal. I heard the warning sirens off in the distance for other towns. Hmm... should I go to the basement? Hubby was out of town with the boys. It was my mom, the three young ones, and me. Nah, the basement is so filthy. I can't bring the kids down there. I kept checking the internet for updates on where the tornado was. Suddenly, we got a satellite signal. And there on the tv was the weather man telling us the tornado was heading our way. Take cover immediately. I looked out the window and it had suddenly gotten almost dark as night. I had never seen it that dark before. And then the wind got violent. I jumped up and said, "Uh, I think we should head to the basement now!" I herded the kids down and my mom was running around closing windows. I thought she had gotten lost or something... Maybe blown away like Dorothy. When we got down there we got a couple calls from people making sure we knew we were in danger. That's when you know who really loves you. When we emerged from the basement, this is what we saw:

That's almost half of our tree! It just missed our car. It just missed our house. There were a ton of branches on my neighbors house and the corner of her gutter was bent. The neighbor across the street from us got a log in her car window.
Check out how this branch is stuck in the ground:

There is another one in this mess:

A branch also just missed our pool:

Thank you Jesus for protecting all of us and our belongings!
(The upside down slide is always like that... It wasn't blown there.)
