No More Naps?

Posted in Family
Toddler B has been fighting naps.  When I can get him to take a nap, he fights bedtime.  One night I was yelling from my own bed for him to get back in his bed.  So I decided to let him skip his naps rather than fight him.  The only problem is, he often doesn't make it to bedtime.
Here he is falling asleep at dinner.  He did that twice.

He also fell asleep while my mom read him a book.

And here he is toppled over on the couch.
(That cat gets in all the pics, huh?)
It's nice to see him sleeping because it's a chance for him to look all sweet and innocent.  He's lying still, not getting into trouble or tearing things apart.  Isn't he cute?

My 4 1/2 yr old stop taking naps when we put him in his toddler bed, so we have to just have quiet time. He can play, lay and read a book, what ever, but he has to stay in his room. And on busy days he falls asleep where ever he is, like your little guy. But often, only and hr. or 2 before bed time. Boys can be ornry!

Boys can definitely be difficult! We had to stop letting Jack take naps when he was 18 months old. He fell asleep without difficulty, but would nap for 3 hours, then be awake until midnight. We took out the naps, so he could get to sleep at a decent hour. Katrina took naps off and on until she was 5 and still will sometimes fall asleep in the middle of the afternoon.

Aww, gee, poor fellow. That's a hard transition for them isn't it? My 3yr old still naps most days, but regardless as to whether she sleeps or not, she is always required to rest in her bed for a set amount of time every day. The older two are required to rest as well. Generally they watch cartoons on the couch or look at a book.

About Me

Oh, the crazy things that happen in my house.... I am the wife of M for 8 years now. I am the mother of a 10 yo boy - D, 6 1/2 yo boy - N, 4 yo girl - Princess C, 2 1/2 yo boy -Toddler B, and girl Lil' L born May 18. I've been homeschooling since 2003. I lean towards a Charlotte Mason approach, but more often than not, it's "whatever works".
