Bin Diving

Posted in Cleaning
It's amazing the things you find when you start going through bins.  Being that we moved into this house a mere 4 months ago, we still have a lot of bins filled with stuff.  What.. I'm not all that sure of.  My garage has gotten so that you can't even walk through it.  I started that mess when I decided to put all the kids toys in there.  And, boy, what a can of worms I opened.  I never finished that project before I moved on to the next.  Ha, story of my life... Anyway, what was my point?  Oh yes, today, I decided that I should move all of the bins of games into the basement.  That way they will be out of the garage - because Christmas is coming and we need room for all the Christmas bins - and also so they will be a little easier to access.  On my way through the kitchen with my first bin I had the brilliant idea of going through the bins and making lists of what games were in which bins.  I must inform you, there are 4 giant bins and 1 regular size bin of games.  I know, too many.  But we are a bunch of pack rats and we think, "We might want to play that some day."  We can never agree on a game to actually get rid of.  We have different ideas of what might be played someday.  Actually, we did get rid of two games when we packed up.  hehe... My list idea turned out to be a good idea.  Besides the yelling at the boys to stop opening all the games and trying to play them and the yelling at them to stop moving all the games around because they were confusing me, it went pretty well.  And the bonus is, I found some very important things.  One being the directions to assemble our ping-pong table.  It was taken apart when we moved and hubby didn't think he would ever be able to put it back together again.  (Sounds very Humpty Dumpty-ish)  Now we have the directions, all we need is the time to put it together, and the space to set it up in.  Hmm....  My other special find was my Jurassic Park playing cards.  I got those in high school when I was a huge Jurassic Park freak.  And the creme de la creme.... drum roll please...  I found my mil's secret cheesecake recipe.  It was written down on a score sheet.  And I am holding it ransom.  She will have to pay me $1 million or else I will sell it on ebay.  Mom, you have until midnight tomorrow...

If you sell my cheesecake recipe on e-bay, I get half. Half the money, not half the cheesecake (although that would not be a bad thing either)..... come to think of it.
Bin diving sounds like fun.....kind of like searching pockets of jackets and coats one hasn't worn for nearly a year.
Hey, you can have fun bin-diving for weeks, and weeks, and weeks to come. It will keep you busy all winter long.

Um.. first of all you never ever NOT have tons of filled bins everywhere including house, garage, storage places, and basement waiting to be emptied, sorted, or rearranged. (Or just moved 2 inches to the left.)
Second of all I know for a fact that with so many games you guys can never then decide what to play, way too many choices.
Thirdly I think you need to sign up to a 12 step no-bin program at your local VFW.
Fourthly ---And seriously to bribe someone for what you happened to find is apalling. (SP?) I raised you better than that. I get a third of the million since I provided the time for you to go through bins anyway. How could you forget me? Blessings.

I am sure it is a trick. "Maria" probably left out the key ingredient for it's distinct delicious flavor. Man!! ever since you posted this I have been thinking about her cheesecake. I think we should have it for T-giving.

HAHA! You guys crack me up! And she IS Maria because she rewrote the recipe so that I "could understand it better." And she DID sabotage the recipe! But I did get her to make it for Thanksgiving. Yippee! That's as good as a million. And mom/Abiga, you can have a third of the cake. Hehe...

I don't think any of us will be nice enough to give your mom a 1/3. Those are fight'en words! We don't want any T-giving brawl ya know! hahaha I say we have a kids cake to keep them away from our cheesecake. Something distracting for them, with lots of sprinkles or something. ;p

About Me

Oh, the crazy things that happen in my house.... I am the wife of M for 8 1/2 years now. I am the mother of a 10 yo boy - D, 6 1/2 yo boy - N, 4 yo girl - Princess C, 2 1/2 yo boy -Toddler B, and girl Lil' L 1, and a new little blessing due Jan 31. I've been homeschooling since 2003. I lean towards a Charlotte Mason approach, but more often than not, it's "whatever works".
