Homeschooling in Illinois

Major Rambling

Time sure flies when you look at blog land.  I can't keep up with blogging.  I can't even keep up with reading blogs.  Why is it, then, that it is still January?  Real life is going so slow!  Why isn't it spring yet?  My kids are going bonkers.  They are constantly running through the house.  Am I crazy to try and stop them?  The weather needs to get above freezing so they can go outside and play.  There are almost three acres out there just begging to be tromped over.  Stop tromping on my hard wood floors!  *sigh*
I can't wait for spring.  I can't wait to start my garden.  I can't wait to buy a goat.  I can't wait to kick these kids out of my house!
In non cabin fever news.... We celebrated Chinese new year by eating Chinese food.  I had hubby pick it up and bring it 100 miles just for us.  I actually think this is related to cabin fever.  Even though I have it, I don't have the will power to drag us out in the cold to go grocery shopping.  And even if I did, I'm sick of cooking the same boring winter foods.  I want to grill!  Maybe if it would get above freezing...  Anyway, Chinese new year...  Hubby wished the guy at the restaurant a happy new year and looked all cool because he knew it was their new year.    And today we celebrated chocolate cake day.  My mom made a Wilmington Mud Marsh cake.  Sinfully delicious...  I should really take some to our neighbor so that we don't eat it all.  But that would be leaving the house.  And it snowed.  So the roads are slippery.  Just like they have been for 2 months!
Here is an interesting bit of information.  Every time that me and hubby go to Walmart, it snows.  And the roads are terrible.  We don't go that often, but the weather is bad that often.  And we don't even have tons of snow to show for it.  So we don't get the fun part of snow.  Just the icy, snowy, junky roads part of it.  I should really stop complaining now.
I have some fun news.  We got a Wii!  My mil gave us our Christmas gift early.  Yes, you read that right.  This is our 2009 Christmas gift.  It's a lot of fun.  That has helped with the fact that we can't go anywhere.  Somewhat.  It hasn't stopped the kids from running.  I don't think anything will.  And we are back on that subject....  All roads lead to... where do all roads lead to?
I had better get to bed.

I have been falling behind on blogging and blog reading too, mainly because I signed up on FB and that has been keeping me busy connecting with old friends. I'm sorry you are dealing more with the downside of winter instead of the lovely snow. Daniel is pretty sick of it too in Illinois. We have only had about 3 inches of snow here all together this winter. I have been so bummed. Congrats on the Wii! We love ours!

Spring's a'comin. I'm not sure when, but it just *can't* stay that cold for that much longer...

Are you there? Did you force yourselves outside, and then froze to the porch and can't...quite...reach...the door?

About Me

Oh, the crazy things that happen in my house.... I am the wife of M for 8 1/2 years now. I am the mother of a 10 yo boy - D, 6 1/2 yo boy - N, 4 yo girl - Princess C, 2 1/2 yo boy -Toddler B, and girl Lil' L 1, and a new little blessing due Jan 31. I've been homeschooling since 2003. I lean towards a Charlotte Mason approach, but more often than not, it's "whatever works".
