Homeschooling in Illinois

School Plans

Posted in Schooling

We went to the library and checked out some books on the Roman Empire.  D said he wanted to read about it.  We'll see where we go with that.  One book I am excited about reading to him.  I'll let ya know if it's any good.  I looked for a book on Roman olympics, but didn't find one.  I figured that would be good with the Olympics coming up.  We also checked out a book about St. Valentine.  I meant to do that last year but never got around to doing it (story of my life).  We will have to start making Valentine's cards soon.  Last year we were in an exchange with a Yahoo group, but I didn't think I could do it this year.  It was really cool, though.  We got cards from all over the world.  I would really like to do it again.

I read Dandelions Seeds' Blog and the exerpt from The Power of a Praying Wife.  It sounds interesting and I wanted to run to the library to get it, but forgot.  I'll have to run out Monday.

I also wanted to get a baby sign language book.  I've been teaching my daughter what little I know, but the she needs to be able to communicate better.  She has been saying some more things, now, out of the blue.  It's funny how kids seem like they will never learn something, and then all of a sudden, BAM, they know it.

Baby B has been much more pleasant.  Today, he sat in his bouncy seat the whole time I cooked dinner and dessert.  I think he liked me singing with Les Miserable.... (yeah right)  He does have a hard time falling asleep, though.  Thankfully, he sleeps at night and only wakes up to eat, and then falls right back asleep.  That is most important.

About Me

Oh, the crazy things that happen in my house.... I am the wife of M for 8 years now. I am the mother of a 10 yo boy - D, 6 1/2 yo boy - N, 4 yo girl - Princess C, 2 1/2 yo boy -Toddler B, and girl Lil' L born May 18. I've been homeschooling since 2003. I lean towards a Charlotte Mason approach, but more often than not, it's "whatever works".
