Oct. 21, 2005 - Friday is Clean the House Day

So... I think I'll blog.

I really don't like house cleaning.  I'm not very good at it.  I've made at attempt to start, I'll admit. I scrubbed the stove top.  YUCK.  We have a gas stove, with grey "grates".  They have to be scrubbed with a green scrubby thing.  I don't like to do it.  So now it's done... I'm taking a break.

Next I need to scrub the window above the sink.  It gets splashed a lot.  It is a casement window that I have to take the screen out of before I clean the window.  So laziness usually kicks in and it doesn't get done.  The screen is out -- now to find the step stool.

I did do the upstairs this week -- so I'm only needing to get the down stairs done.  That's a good feeling.  Sigh... o.k. I'm coming.

Oh Hey -- have you been invaded by bugs?  We've got an assortment around here.  We live down the road from cows.  So you guessed it... we've got flies.  I can kill 10-12 a day.  I pay my kids $.10 for each fly they swat... but I have to see it first, before they dispose of the carcass.

We have box elder bugs.  No Box Elder tree that I know of... just the bugs.

We also have Asian Beetles.  Those are lovey.  They smell bad when you put them down the garbage disposal.  You can always tell when a toddler eats them too.  They come running to you with their tounge sticking out -- and it stinks.  They came to our home after the farmer harvested their last home.    I know, I know... beetles are good for soybeans.  They eat aphids.  Which really makes me wonder how they are surviving?  Do I have aphids too?

Then... last but not least... we have gnats.  Those are the most pesky, I think.  How horrendous!  So I really need to get the kitchen clean.  It's annoying to have a gnat pointing out just exactely where you haven't wiped kitchen counters off yet.  The other day I was making home made bread.  I got called away mid-sponging.  The dough hook was lifted up out of the bread.  When I returned I went to put the hook back into the dough... YUCK!!!  A swarm of gnats flew off of the dough hook.    Those insolent things... go get your own food!!!  Bhaaa.  I had a friend say that Windex is good for cleaning up -- to rid your self of gnats.  I told my 1G10 that and as she went to pick up the Windex bottle.  She said -- "Hey... there are gnats ON the Windex bottle."  Apparently my brand of gnats are fairly hardy.     Either that or they are suicidal.

E-mailed a photographer today.  We are going to venture to get a Family Photo taken.  Ever tried that with more than three people?  It's not easy.  We are going to try to get all 7 at once.    Can it be done?  Maybe so... but how about beautifully?  I'll let you know.
Nap time... better get some littles down, so I can tackle the kitchen again.  Better start running gnats!!! Here I COME!!!
