Verse for the Week for all you that have snow and cold

Proverbs 31:21 "She is not afraid of th snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet."

I can't believe how the time goes.  This must mean I am getting older, because the weeks just get shorter and shorter.  I remember when I was a kid thinking I would never be an adult   Now I look down the road at 50 and think, oh that isn't really that far away!!

So, I was reminded today through a letter that people do read my blog and it had been 2 weeks, so guess it's time to update  My husband had a good birthday, it actually seemed to last all week   The week kicked off with a surprise Birthday party at our lunch fellowship between services and then his birthday, he opened presents from the boys and I and had some calls from his family.  Then on Thursday, we went out to Chinese.  I believe by Friday, he had received all the cards/money and gifts that he was going to for his birthday.  It's hard to believe that he is 41

I guess I did make new years resolutions, and didn't really realize it.  One was to lose at least 15 pounds, but perferably 20.  I don't lose very fast at all and it can be very discouraging!  I started off with the cleansing diet. I think I might of told you of this in my last post.  I lost 4.4 pounds from that.  I then went on WW online and the first week, I gained .50 pounds and as of today, I lost 1 pound.  I have been following the plan to a T, and excersising 3-4x a week.  BUT, I do have to say I feel good!!!  So, I am going to keep plugging away and maybe, just maybe, it will come off sooner, than later.  I really would like 10 more pounds before Feb. 9th (FLORIDA)  My dh has cut back on his nightly chips and watching what he eats during the day and for him, well, in 1 week he has lost 6 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!  That always happens, but he is trying to encourage me and he knows that I am trying. The other was to finally after MANY years get my pictures from manilla envelopes (which are sorted) into albumns.  As I was going through these, they brought back alot of memories.

Church is going well.  This last Sunday we had a snowstorm and my dh decided to still have church, but we were very, very low.   He did cancel for our afternoon service as it was getting worse.  It did finally stop around 4 or 5 pm.   We really would like to invest in a van to pick up kids.  Our Sunday School has always struggled and both my dh and I think that this could help it.  I am going to be taking up the Ladies Fellowship monthly meetings and we are going to focus on Missionaries.  Everything we do will have to do with missions.  If anyone who reads this has any ideas on what we could do, please let me know.  I think we are also going to do a study on taking care of our bodies for the Lord.  Many of the ladies that will be involved are into dieting or eating healthier.

Both my oldest son and my husband are now on facebook.  My dh is into it more than I thought he would be.  I set him up and he checks it and responds.  He has connected with a couple classmates and has enjoyed that.  My son has connected with some friends from the church we attended in the summer and he really likes that.  There aren't any teens at our church, so it is nice they can keep in contact with other Christian teens.  My youngest is playing basketball and he is pretty good at it.  He really likes playing.   sometimes, I think that is ALL he thinks about!  I'm glad he can do it.  They won't be playing in high school as the high school is 15-20 min. away and that's too far to truck back and forth for practices, games and such.  They have had their time in grade school and really have enjoyed being in sports.  I think it has been good for them overall.

Well, seems like I updated on mostly everything.  I hope you had  a nice warm cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate while reading.  For us all that are in the cold, we sure do need warmth.  For you in the warmth, ENJOY!

Have a great week and drop us a note or make a comment.  We love hearing from you!

Glad all is going well for you. It doesn't seem possible the boys are as big as they are, God has really blessed your family.

Something I did for my kids....I got a photo album and I put all the missionary prayer cards in there, pictures of them with the missionaries if I had them. Then each night at devotions we go through the album and take turns praying for the families. They really enjoy this and they learn to pray, care for others, geography, etc. When we get updates from those missionaries, we pray specifically for those needs and blessings. It's a lot of fun! Also, there are a couple of books Drama in the Real lives of Missionaries and Drama in the Real Lives of Missionaries II. These are all true stories with short chapters that could be easily read as a group at a meeting. Hope these help! Love, Annie
