Birthday Cakes

Posted in Homemaking

We've had several birthdays this month-- J's, as well as a good friend who was visiting a few weekends ago.  Here are the cakes.  Guess which ocean-creature-loving eight-year-old chose the octopus...

Hey, does anyone have a recipe for a glaze to cover/frost the sides of cut cake (e.,. the octopus legs)?

Try looking up a petits fours (sp?) icing recipe, because they're glazed on the side. It's really messy; I did it once. The icing is very goopy and you basically pour it several times over the cake.

That octopus is awesome! What a great idea. Sorry I don't have a recipe for frosting.
