Hi, welcome to my blog. I will be sharing our experience as we homeschool 5 boys - our struggles, trials, prayers, and blessings. There are many challenges along the way for any homeschooler and I hope you are encouraged by what you read here. We use Sonlight and My Father's World as our main curriculum. Thank you for stopping by and comments are welcomed.
Well we got a late start today because I slept in. I was exhausted and when the alarm went off at 7 I shut it off and rolled over and went back to sleep until 8. It only put us a half hour behind though so not too bad for being lazy.
My dh taught the younger two today but not until this afternoon usually their done by lunch time with everything but science. They had fun playing all morning though - thanks dad! Our day starts out with Bible and the middle two are learning Psalm 103. They will recite it for Grammy and our family but I am thinking of video taping to send to my parents and my dh's sister. It is a struggle because it is suppose to be a dramatic reading and you would think since they were dramatic most of the time it would come easy. Actually they are not doing too bad but we definitely need more work.
We are also practicing for the youth service at church which is in 4 weeks. One of the boys will be in a skit, 3 of them are doing a dramatic reading and the younger 3 are singing. The older 2 are helping dad out with music. It keeps us busy but it will be a good experience. We held our first youth service last year and the kids loved doing it.
My mother in law came over this afternoon so I could help her pin her pants so that she can take them in. She has lost a lot of weight and all her pants are too big. Yea mom!
We had dinner and the boys helped me clean up the kitchen. We did our Spanish lesson and then some Bible reading with Dad. He had some special verses to share with us from Philippians chapter 1. ...According to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. (v. 20&21) He was talking to the boys about how Paul even though he suffered and was in prison he still made the choice to follow Christ no matter what the cost. I think it is hard for us to understand what it means to serve Christ no matter what. Voice of the Martyrs can give us a glimpse of what our brothers and sisters go through and help us to realize how blessed we are to have the freedom to live for the Lord. My brothers and sisters keep the faith, do not grow weary and you are an encouragement to the church.

Aug. 21, 2008 - Thankful Thursday
Iris at Sting My Heart is focusing on peace today. Everyone longs for peace - peace in their homes and in their countries. As Iris pointed out one definition of peace is: freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions. Another definition, which encompasses the above definition is: Strong's Concordance 7965 - Hebrew Shalom ..... A word study in the New King James version for SHALOM says: Completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord.
I am so thankful for the peace of God. It is more than being free from conflict on the outside...it is true freedom from conflict on the inside. So many times we appear to be cool, calm and collective but inside our emotions and thoughts are raging. I am so thankful that we, as believers, can have shalom even in our inner being. When the storm is raging call on your Prince of Peace and He will quiet you with His peace. Thank you Jesus for that peace...it is a strong testimony of your work in our lives.
I am also thankful for my MIL and her sister. They have offered to take the boys for a day so that I can have some time to myself.
I am thankful that my dh's new job is going well. The Lord has given him peace, wisdom and strength each day.

The LORD bless you, and keep you; the LORD make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace (shalom). Numbers 6:24-26

I am thankful there is nothing to difficult for our God. If He can create the heavens and the earth through His great power then we can be sure He is able to accomplish mighty things in our own lives.
I am thankful for my husband, who has worked tirelessly this week training in his second job and continues to accomplish work in the ministry. I am thankful for his dedication to the Lord and to his family.
I am thankful for my children. They are each a unique gift from the Lord. They may bring challenges into our lives but they are also a huge blessing.
