~ About Me ~
Hi, welcome to my blog. I will be sharing our experience as we homeschool 5 boys - our struggles, trials, prayers, and blessings. There are many challenges along the way for any homeschooler and I hope you are encouraged by what you read here. We use Sonlight and My Father's World as our main curriculum. Thank you for stopping by and comments are welcomed.
Well I missed Thankful Thursday last week...I will try not to get too carried away with this post to make up for lost time. :-)
"Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit...O LORD, the hope of Israel..." Jeremiah 17:7-8
This verse was an encouragement to me this past week and I wanted to share it with you. I am so thankful that as we trust in the LORD we are likened to a tree planted by the water with deep roots - and no matter what comes our way we do not need to fear. It is so easy to be afraid in this world but for those who trust the Lord do not need to be afraid. It says in 1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love." I am also thankful for that perfect love the Father showers on us. The verse in Jeremiah says that we will not wither and we will continue to bear fruit as we trust in the LORD. I am thankful the Lord gives us the strength we need & we have the victory through Him. It makes you want to shout "O LORD Hope of Israel...I love you & I am so thankful you picked me up out of the pit and placed my feet on a solid Rock. Thank you Jesus!!"
I am thankful for the servants of the Lord who so graciously give to others and just last week someone dropped off some food for our family. Thank you Lord!
I am thankful for the trials that the Lord has brought us through over the years. We have grown in our faith & seen the Lord do some wonderful things. He is good & He is sovereign - Praise His name!
I am thankful for my family...the Lord has blessed me with some good times with them over the last few weeks. We haven't done a lot but we have spent time together & I am thankful we are able to do that.
I am thankful for the beautiful summer weather we have been experiencing. It has been a little chilly this past week but my hubby loves it! The kids have been playing outside a lot in the afternoon soaking in the sunshine.
I could go on and on...but I must close for now...I pray you all have a blessed weekend...enjoy the weather & your family!
"And it will not be anxious in a year of drought..." what a super promise of our Lord in Jeremiah :)
I am so thrilled to read that you had time with your family - that is the most precious thing we can have.
Awesome that you had someone drop off food for you :)
Thank you so much for sharing your grateful heart with us. Be blessed today and always...
Tammy...glad you are back sharing your grateful heart and the excellent choice of scriptures! It's wonderful when you have expected blessings and able to enjoy the simple pleasure of just being together with your family. That really touched me!
Be blessed! Peggy
I really enjoyed this post, once again. Thank you for sharing the way you do. I love how you always have an encouraging scripture to share with us, Lord knows I need it. Glad you are enjoying the outdoors, I have been doing that so much lately. It really helps me to relieve stress. Out there in the wide open surrounded by God's wonderous creation of nature.
Be blessed,
Stacy

Aug. 21, 2008 - Thankful Thursday
Iris at Sting My Heart is focusing on peace today. Everyone longs for peace - peace in their homes and in their countries. As Iris pointed out one definition of peace is: freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions. Another definition, which encompasses the above definition is: Strong's Concordance 7965 - Hebrew Shalom ..... A word study in the New King James version for SHALOM says: Completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord.
I am so thankful for the peace of God. It is more than being free from conflict on the outside...it is true freedom from conflict on the inside. So many times we appear to be cool, calm and collective but inside our emotions and thoughts are raging. I am so thankful that we, as believers, can have shalom even in our inner being. When the storm is raging call on your Prince of Peace and He will quiet you with His peace. Thank you Jesus for that peace...it is a strong testimony of your work in our lives.
I am also thankful for my MIL and her sister. They have offered to take the boys for a day so that I can have some time to myself.
I am thankful that my dh's new job is going well. The Lord has given him peace, wisdom and strength each day.
My prayer for you:
The LORD bless you, and keep you; the LORD make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance on you, and give you peace (shalom). Numbers 6:24-26

I am thankful there is nothing to difficult for our God. If He can create the heavens and the earth through His great power then we can be sure He is able to accomplish mighty things in our own lives.
I am thankful for my husband, who has worked tirelessly this week training in his second job and continues to accomplish work in the ministry. I am thankful for his dedication to the Lord and to his family.
