Jul. 4, 2009 - The 4th of July: Good and bad

The 4th of July is very exciting for my girls. Rides and fireworks are the highlights of their day. My son, on the other hand, loves and hates today. He likes some of the rides, and the ones he really likes he doesn't want to get off of. The fireworks, he likes the lights, but not the sound. So I have him on my lap covering his ears with my hands so he doesn't freak out. I keep thinking this year may be different, but it's the same every year. All in all, today should be a pretty good day. I hope it doesn't rain, the weather said 40% chance of showers. I love the food at the carnival, but it doesn't like my kids. My girls are allergic to everything and my son won't eat anything there. I'm hoping that today is a good day for everyone.

Jul. 6, 2009 - Welcome!

Hi! I came across your page while blog hopping (reading random blogs) and read all your posts. I also have 3 children. 2 girls (6 and almost 4) and 1 boy (age 7). My husband and I travel around the country every 3 months or so with his job as a traveling nurse, so homeschooling fits us perfectly. I have been down a similar path...not having a lot of help with hubby, feeling overwhelmed with bedtime with the kids, etc. Then I read a few books that truly changed everything for me and my family. One was "Created to be His Help Meet" by Debi Pearl and the other one was "To Train Up a Child" by Michael and Debi Pearl. They have a great website called NoGreaterJoy.ORG. When I started applying what I read, my marraige went from being good/so-so, to absolutely GREAT. And the relationship with my children was poor at best...I was trying so hard to be everything for everyone, I forgot the most simple basic part....being there for my kids...listeing to them, playing with them, etc. This all did not happen overnight. In fact it has been 4 yrs since my sister introduced me to those books, and most of the changes have been evident only in the past 2 yrs. And things keep getting better. My main focus is God and once I started crying out to HIM for all things and praying more, that is when life turned around for the best. My husband went from being a complacent believer (he believed in Jesus and God, but didn't feel it was necessary to go to church or read the Bible) to going to church and praying with me and the kids everyday.
So I just wanted to stop by and tell you that you are so not alone in your journey. I look forward to reading more about you and your wonderful family!
