Momma In Oregon

Jan. 25, 2006 - To homeschool or not...Every parents question

I hadn't written in a while because we were debating about puting K in public or private school. What a hard question to answer. One school was an interest to us because it is a private homeschool--the kids go to school Tues, wed and thurs and you homeschool mon and fri. It definately peaked our interest.  I think that we decided to keep homeschooling and re-evaluate for next year for now.

What makes this hard is that K is an only child. We just moved back to this part of Oregon after 2+ years and so we are behind in getting him involved with other activites. It took a while to find out where kids sign up for soccer and so we will have had to wait a full year since he has played last. It also took several months to find a tiger cub den that K could get involved with. We also have a homeschool group that K takes classes from but they only meet on Thursdays. But it is great to see him involved in something.

We are truly blessed with what we've been given but would like K to be involved with more activities. We'll have to see how God leads in the next couple of months.

Hi! I think co-ops are kind of neat, as long as there is a lot of parent involvement. I think a major key will be making friends with others who are like-minded. Get into a support group or just start one of your own, something small like a weekly park day, mall day with the kids, whatever. Anyway, God bless you, and glad you are here at HSB!
