Jan. 30, 2006 - The Magician's Nephew...and reading

What a great book so far. K and I have started to read the start of the The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe books. And it is called The Magician's Nephew. I love the characters so far...Polly and Digory, the kids who go into the new worlds, and Uncle Andrew, the "magician" who tricked them into going. I know there are a lot more characters, but we have only read the first 3 chapters.  Be for warned, I'm enjoying this book so much that you'll hear more about them, and the fact that K is enjoying the stories too helps our reading time.

This is the 1st year that K and I have been reading a lot of books. For homeschooling we are using Sonlight and if you don't know what it is it is a literature rich curriculum. We read books on history, bible, K reads to me in readers (or I've been getting a lot of Dr. Suess at the library too) and I read to him in different books for our "read a loud time"   We have gotten off the "read aloud" schedule and are now reading the CS Lewis books.

Now off to The Bell and The Hammer (the next chapter)...

We don't follow Sonlight but we do a lot of our learning via read-alouds. I love reading great books with my kids!
