Momma's Day

Sep. 8, 2008 - School Begins For Real!

Last week was the beginning of our school but we were not really on top of things after the almost evacuation.  This week felt more like the beginning.  I had everything planned out.  I even had our morning scheduled.  We all were up and showered and fed before 8:00.  Chores and Bible study were done after that and Lessons started at 9:00.

We had started history, science and spelling last week.  All those are going well.  We actually decided to study the weather before we had all these hurricanes.  Spelling is going really good.  Son seems to be catching on.  We are using Sequential spelling.

We started our writing this week.  We are using Andrew Pudewa's Institute for Excellence in Writing, the Student Intensive level B.  That went really well also.  They liked the video.  My kids are usually so critical.  They really liked it when he told them not to worry about being neat doing their first draft.

Now we are looking at Ike, wondering if he is going to come our way.  The weather people seem to think so.  The state is thinking about calling for an evacuation on Thursday.  Of course all that could change.

I'm so glad you're having a good week (well, Monday) so far. And NO, I don't think I'll get my other half to leave this part of Texas. I'll just do what another commenter on my blog said - I'll enjoy the fact that the other 3/4 of the year, we're hurricane free!

I think we're all watching Ike. *ugg* I hope everyone fairs alright.

This will be our first year to do the Food & Nutrition. My girls have wanted to do it before but we're always so busy with everything else. Let me know how your leadership in the project goes. I am somewhat nervous about the role I have chosen but I know it will all be worth it in the end.

It's great to meet you here in Blog World. *waves*

Sep. 9, 2008 - Hello

Thanks for the nice note. I will keep your family in prayers for this hurricane season. We go through the same with the forest fires here in Oregon. It is always good to remember all that we have comes from the good Lord. Have a great week!
I enjoyed stopping by.
