You stop all preparations to either weather the storm or evacuate so you can teach your child about air pressure. We have been studying weather in our science class and this just seemed to be the perfect time to talk about High pressure systems and low pressure systems. We built our own barometers. I can't tell if they are really working but we shall see if stay through the storm. If the storm turns towards us we will leave and never know how well our barometers worked.

another book that YOU might be interested in is A WEEKEND IN SEPTEMBER. It is also a book about the big Galveston storm. It scared me when I read it. I can't go to Galveston without thinking about what I read.
Thanks for the comment on the church thing. When I saw the nameless one, I thought I was going to get nailed by someone! I agree with your comment. you have to check your motives and then go where you feel led to go.
And yes, my oldest is doing all of that. He keeps me hopping (or driving, rather).
