Sep. 13, 2008 - Ike

We evacuated. I decided it would be silly to stay when we had a perfectly good place to go. So now I am at my mom's house in Jackson, MS. Hubby just called and said our house is fine. We are missing a few shingles. They are saying it could be weeks before power is restored. I don't know when we will get to go home. I am thinking at least a week. After Rita it was 3 weeks before we got electricity at our house. We will just consider this a vacation.

Pray for those who stayed behind. I know 2boysmom stayed and there are other homeschoolers that I talked to yesterday that were staying. They are still getting rain and wind. The Weather Channel says there are tornado warnings still.

I'm so glad you left! That was the most awful thing I've ever been through. I'll tell you about it one day. We are safe in Austin. By God's grace, we already had a trip scheduled for this week. We are in a very nice resort with activities for the kids, a lazy river pool, etc. It's like the dirty dancing resort (the movie) without the dirty dancing! It's such a blessing to be here. I'll talk to you soon.

So glad you and your family are safe . Glad shingles are all you lost. I have certainly been praying for all of those who were in the path of Ike.

Oct. 11, 2008 - Hope you are back home by now...

Hi there...you hadn't posted anything since you evacuated so I hope you are back home and everything is okay!

It's been a long month for us...after a good first couple days of school I got sick and have been dealing with whooping cough ever since...you can read all about it on my blog (despite all that school has still gone well...thank God Bridgette's at the point where most of her school work is independent!)

Anyway...I stopped by because I'm tagging people for a couple of tags...however, please don't feel like you have to partcipate (and I apologize if you are one of the "No Tag" people)...I understand that we all have better things to do...but if you want to join in I would love to read about your randomness and/or fall favorites :-) But, I won't be offended if you don't want to participate!
