Momma's Day

Wal Mart

I haven't been going to Wal Mart much lately but I had to go today.  I was reminded why I don't like Wal Mrt any more.  As I was unloading my groceries the cashier hollered at me, "Hey, little momma!"  I really didn't think she was talking to me at first.  But she wanted to know where I found some notebooks I was buying for the kids.  She was pleasant enough after that but I had a hard time geting over the "little momma" bit.  At least it wasn't big momma!

I thought about speaking to the manager but I knew it wouldn't do much good.  Ever since Hurricane Rita came through they have had a hard time hiring enough people to work there.  They have had to take what they can get.  The lines are horrible because they don't have enough cashiers.  I've been going to HEB lately but about once a month I will to Wal Mart to get toiletries and cleaning supplies.

Oh, how I hate Walmart. Our WM has some of the rudest cashiers I have ever seen and you have to stand in line for an average of 20 minutes each time. The worst part is being hemmed up in line surrounded by candy with all of my kids. I am usually in a pretty foul mood when I leave there.
I can't believe she called you that! Good grief!

Little Mama?

Posted by BarbaraFrank

Well, you're right about it being better than Big Mama, but still!
I know it's hip to bash WalMart, but I had an experience there a few years ago that has reduced my trips there to once maybe every three months. I now buy most of my necessities at Meijer and Target, and I've found that many of WalMart's items are overpriced! That was an eye-opener. Plus it's much less stressful.
That said, I've found the less shopping I do anywhere, the more money we save and the more work I get done at home. :)

Have a great day,
Barb

Ugh. You're right though. Hey big momma, would have been wayyyy worse!! I also dislike being called ma'am. It makes me feel like I'm 100. But it certainly is more polite than little momma!!
Have a great day

Blessings!

I just random-buttoned my way here and noticed "HEB" in your post. I'm in TX too... and also have made a point lately of going to the HEB rather than walmart. It's a few more miles but I missed shopping for groceries at a real grocery store. Also, like another commenter, I found walmart's prices are *not* always the lower price. Those are my only two choice though, for anything, walmart and HEB - there is nothing else in our town. An hour up the road they have a new HEB Plus... haven't been to it yet and the non-consumer in me hopes I can keep distracting my husband and son from it, lol. I hear it's got everything... even more types of merchandise than a walmart. My pocketbook doesn't need the stress!
