My Parents Are Living Fossils (says the 13yo)
Jan. 23, 2007
So much to do, soooo little time...

Forced the boys to take a math proficiency test. ROFL....Oh yessssss (said with the certain hiss of a ticked off reptile).....my boys are just a squeek behind.  (read......*gasp* they have cardboard and steamgrates in their housing futures!!!!!!!!!)

Soooo, math wise we have a glob of work cut out for us.  I am soooo discouraged. One of the few saving graces being I was talking to a friend of mine who also homeschools and she is in similar straits with at least one, maybe two of her kids.

As parents and home educators, I feel the number one purpose of educating a child should be fitting them for service to God. Secondly, and as a part of that, preparing them for adult life outside the parental confines.  So, I am not so worried about them memorizing theory or crazy algorithims....just want to be sure they have a firm grasp on practical math and then beyond that, whatever they may need for their chosen career paths.

On a positive note, my kids are a bit more science geeky than others, only because they are cursed.....ahem.....uhm, I mean blessed with a science geek mom who forces scienc-y stuff down their throats.  Well, in a cool way, like hey, let's strip this fan's guts out and find out how it works, or collecting critters or leaves or mixing baking soda and vinager and whatever else sounds good to make a culinary lava flow.....fun stuff, good times!

OK, I would love to chat more, really, honestly, I have been soooo remiss in blogging here like I should.  I have discovered myspace and been working on my page, and also using computer for work, and boys school stuff, so have fallen behind here.

Have a simply lovely.....night, day, whatever it is whereever you are:)
