My Parents Are Living Fossils (says the 13yo)

O - LA Ya'll!!!

Yeppers, we're crankin' away at the spanish again! This time we're trying a new CD, the "immersion" method.  Well, the CD is ludicrous, really - the two people they have speaking on there are almost pure castillian in their speech patterns, which is sort of like the Queens english compared to good ol Americano.  But it's fun for the boys because there are games and it causes them to focus and listen.  hey, anything that helps with focus or listening is a winner in my book!

Anyhoo, we're really looking forward to spring around here.  It makes biology a teensy bit more fun.  I think, although we're really doing macrobiology, we're gonna have some fun with soil and water samples, see what kinda nasty moldy grunge we can grow from field samples.

The boys' attitudes have improved slightly since Daddy sat down and worked with them the other day.  This is a very unusual occurence around here, as Daddy works long hours and treasures his bumming hours when he is home.  But he really worked well with them and they responded quite well to it.

My little five year old princess is almost learning with no help from me.  A week or so ago, she brought me a paper with a picture she had drawn, and beside the picture, she had very carefully lettered the words "Katy" and "Mommy" to show that it was a picture of us.  I was soooo surprised and so impressed. I mean, I have the little notepads for beginning printing and two or three penmanship books for her, but always got aggravated and frustrated and wouldn't finish any lessons.  So I figured I would back off, and true enough, Lil Miss Miss is self-pacing.  So that is exciting.

Well, logging out to gobble brownies & hibernate.
