Lori's Homeschool World

Jun. 29, 2006 - my routene

In trying to make a staible home for my children in a very unstable enviroment, I have failed.  I try adn try but I can't keep up with one.  So I have decided to make a very very simple one.lol

6:30 get up

6:50 breakfast

7:15 get everyone dressed

8:00 clean the house

9:00 start school

12:30 lunch

4:00 snack

6:00 dinner

8:00 baths

8:30 bedtime

I based it off what most regular school kids have, unlike them homeschoolers or atleast I have a hard time making a routene I don't have to have the kids ready to be somewhere the same time everyday, early in the morning.  So we are staying up late and getting carried away and have no routene what so ever.  So I set it up according to what alot of people who send there kids to school do, they have to catch the bus at 8:00am and they get home and have a snack.lol  And they go to bed around 8:30am.  So I doing a basic one, but hopefully I have enough freetime to have fun and do things in it.  I am going to try to turn into one of those moms, who say, no we can't we have school and no that is to late w have a bedtime, like normal moms in the world.lol   Wish me luck and pray we can keep up with it.  I guess now I need to wear a watch and actually know the time.lol

I do kinda the same thing! I call it a "flow", LOL, and it's the only thing I've found I can stick to! (((((HUGS))))) sandi

Jun. 29, 2006 - here's my 2 cents...

...even though you didn't ask for it. :-) (Hope it's okay that I share it!)

I think it's GREAT that you're trying to set up a "basic" schedule. We "flounder" (as I sometimes call it) quite a bit... getting up and going to bed "whenever." Then, I wonder if I'm doing the right thing(s).

Jul. 6, 2006 - Thanks for visiting!

It was great to meet you and read your blog. I have trouble with routines too! I don't even own a watch right now, but my 8 year old does! I do want to try too. I think that we'll try to start a "serious" routine in August. I need prayer for that too!
Blessings!

Aug. 8, 2006 - Homeschooling

The best part about homeschooling is that we are NOT like other public school families... Relax and go with the flow.... It will make life much easier

Whew!
You scared me at first with that schdule!! I'm very lax at home too, I don't stick to any type of "set" anything! ;) I also use a Charolette Mason type approach to homeschooling. But I'm learning it's ok to not be militant in our routine, you can have routine, without having routine! make sense?!? :)

Sep. 6, 2006 - Routine

Reading through your posts, my heart goes out to you. I remember similar days of raising children, frantic homeschooling, endless housework, and lack of time even to brush my hair. It's tough. One of tne biggest mistake I made was not taking time to develop relationships. There was always another project that had to be done. One day I realized I weighed 188 lbs, wore no makeup, my hair was gray and mousy brown, my husband was too busy at work (who wants to be home with a cranky, old fat lady who's always busy!), my kids were out of the house and too busy to come visit, and I had very few friends I could count on. After doing some soul searching, I realized I had to make changes in my life. I lost weight, put on my Mary Kay, put off a lot of "projects," and started taking time for myself, my dear hubbie, and my friends. We are having the time of our life. We go out just the two or us or with friends. We exercise and do photography together. And our kids are coming to see us more! My house is often a mess but I wouldn't trade that for the enjoyment I am having in my relationships. So, from an "old timer," here's some advice: take time to smell the roses. Take time for yourself and develop good relationships with your hubbie and friends. Your kids will be fine. Remember this: according to statistics, the amount of one-on-one instruction a child receives in public school is 66 minutes per day. Anything over that is gravy! Your new "friend," Cindy Downes
