What a word! The word MOM means so many things; so many different things! It can refer simply to the one who gave you life or to the one who chose you above all others to raise as her own. It can mean an aunt who lovingly took over where your mother left off. It can bring pain when someone mentions your good friend who had to leave to meet her Maker.
Why is it then that when our children are on the verge of their first word it is usually "Dad"? And even more intriguing, why is it that as soon as they are old enough to put together thoughts, "Dad" eludes their mouths and it is replaced with "MOM!"????
Like when you are trying to have a bathroom moment, dad is 10 feet away, your child cries "Mom!" about 700 times, in front of him and he doesn't say a word?! Or maybe when you are in a crowded shopping area with your entire family, dad included, and your child yells, "Mom, did you see THAT lady?"
If you are laughing, then you are a MOM and you are special, kind, beautiful and wonderfully made by God! |
