Our goals for the week...
Well, this week I am trying to get on a schedule with school, housework and just everyday things. It has been kind of hard up to this point since we have a new baby in the house. But it is getting better now that Sarah is a little older. Any advice on homeschooling with a baby, will be greatly appreciated!!
The week before last we started learning the Presidents in order and this week we plan to learn the next five. We have been using this really great website to do this, and the girls have learned so much already. I have also added in a daily reading time for Emily. Right now she is working on the Little House books, but I am thinking about switching her over next week. We hope to finish up our addition fact cards this week and start on subtraction next week.

Homeschooling with a baby takes creativity! LOL Just wait until she starts getting into everthing while you are schooling! :o) Although it is a challenge at times, you will find they add so much wonder to your day that it's all worth it.
I don't know that I have any advice to give, other than to work at getting your baby into the routine of hsing. Our little Emma (15 mos) spends the first half hour in her play pen with some toys. Then she will come out and as long as she's playing quietly, she will be in the dining room with us. I do save some special toys to pull out during this time. Being new, they tend to hold her interest for awhile. Then she might have snack time in her highchair. She also enjoys Baby Einstein dvds, but I try not to over utilize them. I tried the coloring thing...still too young. She ate the crayons! Once our 4 year old is finished with his preschool time, he is ready to play with her in the playroom. There have been times when she was very fussy or having a hard time, that we had to set things aside and wait until naptime. As Elastigirl would say, "You just have to be flexible."!
I would love to know what site you are using the learn the presidents. Ds #1 loves learning about them and loves the computer. I think he would enjoy it.
Blessings,
Angela

Thanks for the Pres. info. The coloring pages there would be great to print out and make a note/lapbook out of.
You sound like you are doing the same things we are here at our house (Little House, add. flashcards, etc). =D How is your little girl?
HS'g with little ones can be interesting. We have a box for our 2.5 yo DS that has his "school" supplies in it and we rotate every month or so. We also do 1:1 stuff when he is asleep, especially if he was too busy during our morning school time.

Feb. 8, 2006 - president's song
Posted by mlbainbridge
I learned the order of the presidents by a song when I was in 6th grade (along with the books of the Bible, forward AND backward)...loved Mr. Jensen!!! I've never forgotten it and my little boy was able to memorize that song before he was 3...he just loved the tune and asked me to sing it over and over again!! Granted, he had NO idea what a president was at the time, but now that he's 5, whenever he hears one of the president's names from the song, he immediately lets me know that "he's a president"!! Have fun!!
As far as schooling with a baby...I'm not an expert, just trying to figure it out myself, but we try utilizing morning naptime as much as possible. Haven't yet figured out how to keep the 2 year old completely happy, though! :-)
