Well, I got a nice treat yesterday afternoon and evening.
I was able to go and see Memoirs of a Geisha at the theater alone!! I don't know about anyone else, but I really enjoy going to a theater alone. I get to take a book and read until the movie starts and then just sit back and enjoy.
The movie was great. I really enjoyed it. Last year some time I saw a feature on PBS (I think) about a woman who in the past year became a maiko (apprentice geisha) and wanted to become a geisha, so seeing Memoirs was very interesting. Historically it was facinating. I can't help but wonder how geisha came about in the first place.
All in all, the movie was fantastic, but I don't want to spoil it for any blog readers who have yet to see it. But, I will state that the s*xual scenes are very bland and there is very little nudity. Please also keep in mind, this movie is not about prostitution though it does not fit the Christian view point of morality. I certianly won't be showing this movie to my children during their education.
On Wednesday Allen and I got a few Netflix. Chocolat, Deadwood Season 1 disk 1, and Man on Fire. UGH UGH UGH!! One out of three!
Chocolat is wonderful!! I so much love that movie. Of course, as I teased my husband...who wouldn't enjoy watching Johnny Depp. And, where as he will admit that "Johnny is cute... he isn't my type." Snort!
Deadwood is a HBO series and it is HORRIBLE!!! Between the language and the characters! BLech!! Even my husband (who has alot more tollerance for foul language...being Navy and all) said we didn't need to continue that torture anymore.
As for Man on Fire....ugh!! That was just SAD and scarey.
So, those are our movies for the week. Tommorow I am going to watch Earthsea.
