• Friday, May 11, 2007 - Juicing anyone?

Posted in Health

Idid it!   I bought a juicer.

Just last week I was discussing healthy eating with a friend of mine. She mentioned really liking her juicer. I was out this morning yard saling and what did I find??

Yep a Champion Juicer. $50.00  - I bought it.

I told my husband and he rolled his eyes and said are we gonna have 50 bucks worth of juice? ::)

So I need your HELP!! I need juice recipes for REALLY yummy stuff. Even if it is not the most healthy thing out there. As long as it is moderately healthy and REALLY yummy. I need to proove that this was not a dumb idea. I know nothing about juicing.

BTW I also went to a Library book sale. Now have 3 boxes of new books. ;D I wonder why the library is getting rid of these really good books? I don't get it.

I also found Elementary Apologia Zoo 1 at another yard sale...... for a buck.  I already have it but I couldn't pass it up.   I'm giving it to my friend.

A local bank was giving lunch away. So we got free lunch too.

What a fun morning.

I AM SOOOOOO JEALOUS!!!!! i would rather do what you did than chickens! OK get some apples, really cheap old ones are good for juice. Core them, don't peel them. next some carrots 2 or three wash them but don't peel them. Now add some oranges say two or three peel and section. Very yummy. Grapes are yummy too! Another thing very good is freeze bananas, blueberries and strawberries. Run them through the juicer and voila they come out ice cream ( we call it nice cream because it has no sugar and is so good. Even David likes it.

You are the yard sale queen, girl!

I'm a big juicer and THE BEST book is called The Juiceman's Power Of Juicing by Jay kordich. ISBN 0688114431. It talks all about how to prepare and NOT prepare each fruit and veggie as well as the health value of each combination.

My fav is Creamsicle In A Glass - 1 cup fresh orange juice, 1/2 cup fresh apple juice, 1 tsp honey, 1/4 tsp vanilla, 2 Tbs nonfat dry milk and 2 ice cubes tossed in the blender. It's like a good-for-you orange julius.

Another great one is Santa Fe Sunshine - 1 (1 inch) slice of jicama, 1 pear, and 1 apple. yummy!

Hubs really likes combinations with carrots and greens but I'm kind of a fruit juice junkie.

Have fun with your new toy!

The thoughts and reflections of a mom who loves being at home, and is doing all she has ever desired in her life..... Really... I love my life that much!

"And all thy sons shall be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of thy sons.
In righteousness shall thou be established."
Is 54:13-14
